Managerless Following Split With Shari Spencer, GSP Wants Ari Gold to Represent Him

“So I went to get some coffee and guess who I ran into?” asked GSP. “Ari Gold. I said ‘Hey Ari, can we talk business?’ He looked at me like I was crazy; I think he was hiding from paparazzi. So he came over to me and said ‘Hey, you’re GSP, you’re one of my favorite fighters, can I get your autograph?’ I was like ‘Sure sure’. Then I ask him if he would like meet up so we can discuss business. He agreed, so I’ll be coming out to L.A. next week. He says I can come by the set. I guess one of his big clients is shooting a movie.”

St. Pierre flew back to Montreal excited at the prospects of what Ari Gold could bring to him, still unaware that the show is a comedy.

I contacted Jeremy Piven by phone call and asked him for comment. The veteran actor reiterated how much he loves MMA, pointing to fighters like GSP and Chuck Liddell as being his favorites, and said that he’d love to have St. Pierre make a  guest appearance on Entourage.

“That GSP is a nice guy -- a real nice guy,” said Piven. “Though I don’t understand why the autograph was made out, 'To Ari Gold.'”

Anderson Silva vs. Georges St. Pierre in the Works for 2011

Dana White told fans at a Q & A last week that Georges St. Pierre vs. Anderson Silva is a very real possibility for 2011. If both fighters win their next fights, GSP will permanently move up to 185 reversing original plans for the UFC Super Fight.

Anderson Silva vs. Georges St. Pierre has been talked about for the last two years but talking was where it stopped. The closest the fight ever came was last April at UFC 112 when GSP came down to ringside to do commentary during the Silva vs. Demian Maia charade. Reports were that GSP’s appearance was to result in the announcement of the UFC Super Fight. Instead, Dana White was enraged with Silva’s performance and called the fight off.

Is the GSP/Anderson Silva Superfight Worth Shafting Yushin Okami?

MMA fans have long clamored for champion versus champion bouts.  BJ Penn's early competitiveness at the upper echelons of welterweight ignited the passions of several groups - those that believe that skill and speed trump size and strength, fans of jiu jitsu, haters of wrestling, short people - and proved that the larger champion was not guaranteed to beat his smaller counterpart.  While the rematch between Penn and St Pierre in early 2009 was lopsided in favor of the heavier fighter, that didn't deaden the myriad impulses in favor of champion v champion bouts - instead, if merely redirected them.

It's that desire to see David v Goliath that makes Georges St Pierre and Anderson Silva such an attractive matchup.  It's also that desire that's going to see poor Yushin Okami screwed - again.

Georges St-Pierre vs. Royce Gracie: What If They Fought in Their Primes?

There is only one person who has a greater takedown percentage than Georges St-Pierre: Royce Gracie.

That last name, Gracie, is enough to strike fear into any fighter (apart from Sakuraba possibly). But would it strike fear into GSP?

Royce won the first UFC, when a young Georges was watching. He has even admitted that Royce was his idol and reason for becoming a martial artist. But how would the old guard fair against the young pretender? Not very well in my opinion...

God knows I love Royce Gracie. God knows I love Georges St-Pierre too. So in giving myself the task of completing this article, with my head and heart, I have placed myself in what seems to be a very difficult corner to get out of.

The truth is, Georges would more than likely dominate Royce.

Georges St. Pierre's RUSHFIT: An Adventure in Pain

If you can judge a man by his demeanor during the filming of a fitness video (and what better way is there to judge anyone), Georges St. Pierre is a heck of a good guy. Don't get me wrong, I hate your standard workout diva. Male or female, they are all the same. While I'm considering my best suicide options, focused solely on how much my body hurts, they sit there with that smile plastered on their botoxed face. That smile. Unusually white teeth shining, they are just rubbing it in the customer's face. You, the fat loser who can't even touch his toes, may feel like Gary Busey on one of his bad days. But me? Me the exercise professional? I'm here yucking it up. I don't even feel a tingle yet, let alone a burn.

Gilbert Melendez Says Nick Diaz And Jake Shields Are The Guys To Beat Georges St. Pierre – Is He Right?

On one hand, anything Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez says regarding training partners Nick Diaz and Jake Shields is biased.  After all, these guys constantly work together, are friends, and therefore share a special bond.  So you might want to take the following Melendez quote, solicited by a ’what if’ fight scenario between Georges St. Pierre and Diaz, with a grain of salt.  Then again, maybe not. 

“Diaz, bro (would win),” Melendez told FightHubTV.com after his friend defeated KJ Noons.  “I think that’s kryptonite, man, someone who will keep coming forward, boxing you. He’ll be forced to take Nick down. Nick will slap submissions, maybe submit him or get up, and five rounds later….I think he’ll break him and take him.  I think Nick and Jake are the guys to beat GSP. It’s really the honest truth, and I think people out there know it.”

UFC Makes History With First Trip to Ontario, Canada

For the first time in its history, Zuffa is bringing its premier mixed martial arts promotion the UFC to Ontario, Canada. On April 30 the Rogers Centre will host UFC 129, the sixth live event held by the UFC in Canada and the first in Ontario since MMA was officially legalized and sanctioned in the province in August of last year. The Toronto event was originally slated for UFC 131 but later changed as the promotion’s busy 2011 schedule fell into place.

The UFC definitely wants to make a statement with its first appearance in Ontario. Thus, UFC 129 is a stacked card packed with Canadian hometown favorites, former champions – both from the UFC and WEC,  The Ultimate Fighter alumni, and long-time staples of the UFC. The card unofficially is slated to feature former WEC Lightweight Champion “Smooth” Ben Henderson (11-2) making his UFC debut against Kempo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Mark Bocek (9-3), NCAA Div. I national champion “Mr. Wonderful” Phil Davis (7-0) taking on Greco-Roman wrestler and boxer “The Hammer” Matt Hamill (9-2), UFC Hall of Famer and multiple-time champion “The Natural” Randy Couture (19-10) facing former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion “The Dragon” Lyoto Machida (16-2), and in the main event, welterweight king “Rush” Georges St. Pierre (21-2) making his sixth title defense, this time against former Elite XC Welterweight Champion and former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Jake Shields (26-4-1).
