The fairth depicted Arya’s head and shoulders against a dark, indistinct background. She was bathed in firelight on her right side and gazed out at the viewers with knowing eyes, appearing not just as she was but as he thought of her: mysterious, exotic, and the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. It was a flawed, imperfect picture, but it possessed such intensity and passion that it evoked a visceral response from Eragon. Is this how I really see her? Whoever this woman was, she was so wise, so powerful, and so hypnotic, she could consume any lesser man.
Eldest, Page 386. Image of Perfection (via manny1222)
Eragon slowly crept closer, keeping the bow ready. All his work of the past three days had let to this moment. He took a last steadying breath and- an explosion shattered the night.
The herd bolted. Eragon lunged forward, racing through the grass as a fiery wind surged past his cheek. He slid to a stop and loosed an arrow at the bounding doe. It missed by a finger’s breadth and hissed into darkness. He cursed and spun around, instinctively nocking another arrow.
Behind him, where the deer had been, smoldered a large circle of grass and trees. Many of the pines stood bare of their needles. The grass outside the charring was flattened. A wisp of smoke curled in the air, carrying a burnt smell. In the center of the blast radius lat a polished blue stone. Mist snaked across the scorched area and swirled insubstantial tendrils over the stone.
Eragon watched for danger for several long minutes, but the only thing that moved was the mist. Cautiously, he released the tension from his bow and moved forward. Moonlight cast him in a pake shadow as he stopped before the stone. He nudged it with an arrow, then jumped back. Nothing happened, so he warily picked it up.
SPOILERS: Inheritance sketches by =ElizaLento
Best parts of Inheritance. Because they are the WTF moments.
Things Christopher Paolini revealed to us at the Christchurch Armageddon expo, the last show of his tour. (My apologies if this is all old news)
He said there will certainly be a fifth book in the Inheritance Cycle (yes, in the cycle. As in, about characters we already know. Possibly a sixth and seventh as well), it won’t be released for years but he’s even started the first draft.
Said book will involve information about Angela and her history.
He refused to reveal whether or not Eragon and Arya will get married/have further advances in their relationship, in his words “You’ll have to read book 5 to find out” TROLLINI.
Things he left intentionally open ended (Murtagh, those two adventurers, etc) will be tied up.
He already has the title, and apparently we do too. “You’ve heard it, in Inheritance and Brisingr.”
He talked about the many plot plans/drafts he’s got for other books in other genres as well. “Over 400…”
His next series will almost definitely be a sci-fi novel. “Lot’s of lasers, explosions and actiony space ship stuff.”
After years and years of waiting, The Inheritance Cycle is finally complete!
Though probably the timing isn’t right, since I’ll have a test soon, and this book has nearly 1000 pages :P
Even so, having this book has lifted my mood a bit. I was a little upset today. But then, ta daaaah~~
My sister got this signed for me at supanova, because I had my wisdom teeth out and couldn’t meet him myself. I can’t stop looking at it.
Meeting Christopher Paolini at Armageddon
After weeks of waiting it’s finally here, Christchurch’s very own Armageddon. To be honest the event has been a bit boring ever since the earthquake but I still went just for Christopher Paolini. :) (How could I not being the geeky fan I am?)
Got to the event very early in the morning and finished all my browsing early on. I saw heaps of Eleventh Doctor cosplays and DW merchandises on sale. But I resisted all temptations knowing I can get them cheaper elsewhere (and the fact that I needed to save money).
The first panel was with Callum Blue where one fan was brave enough to ask him his thoughts on fanfics. The conversations were rather interesting. He even offered to sell Tom Welling’s number. Oh and one fan (a male) asked him if he was single and he replied he is and suggested the cute girls in the audience should hit him up sometime. What a nice guy for one he believes is evil and much prefers portraying the bad guys.
Christopher’s flight was running late so his panel started a bit later than scheduled. Fans were however not deterred as we waited patiently in our seats for him. The turn out was pretty huge and everyone cheered when he finally showed. :3
The guy showed so much confidence in public speaking that I was surprised. Straight away he launched into the story of his childhood and how he came to writing Eragon. A very interesting story if anyone was lucky enough to hear it, and rather inspiring.
We were also lucky enough to have CP read us extracts from each of the books in the Inheritance Cycle. (I’ll post up a video of it later. XD) Oh and mind you CP’s a huge Doctor Who fan too. Nice to know he is just as geeky as the rest of us, even though you could tell from his looks. :P He had said that in the Inheritance Cycle he slipped in many references of the sci-fi genre, including DW! (Now I have to go back through the books and see if I can spot them lol.)
He then begin taking on fan’s questions and one of the most important bits were spoilers for his upcoming books!
He has stated his next series is sci-fi and will have lots of spaceships and lasers. 8D Rather like Star Wars and Star Trek don’t you think? Not that I mind.
Also he promised a fifth book in the Inheritance series, saying that he has outlined the book already and it only needs to be written. Two spoilers for the book are:
1. The title is in the fourth book.
2. More of Angela’s story will be revealed. (Hooray! I cheered very loudly when I heard this bit because I’ve always been very interested in Angela’s character and wished CP had developed her more.)
CP also mentioned a possible sixth book for the series but of course we’ll need to see the fifth one first! XD
After the panel all the fans rushed to line up to have our books signed. The line seemed like forever but we finally got there. My friend and I were so excited. We initially wanted a photo with him but it didn’t seem like the time was appropriate. But on our second round through the area I spotted the line was rather short so I pulled my friend back into the line just so we could get photos with him. Have to say I was rather pleased with the decision and CP was more than willing to take a photo with us.
All in all, I am one happy book worm for the day. :3
Guess who I met today….. CHRISTOPHER PAOLINI!
I got the whole series… he signed every single book!
I was so scared because we were 2 hrs late for the book signing in Hamilton.
Bookworm in me was sooooo happy! Too bad the photo we took with him was soooooooo blurry. :\ I don’t care if the photo is not that good… I saw him…
When I saw him I said to myself… yup I’d TAP that! BTW, I also got a bonus since me and my siblings were the last ones to get the books signed for the tour….
An inscription on one of the rings of one of the characters… I feel so bad that I forgot whose… I willl post this again when I find out. anyway it’s on the Inheritance book. :D

The collection is now complete. Reminds me of the good ol’ days… Can’t wait to read Inheritance!
So on the weekend I met one my favourite authors Christopher Paolini at supanova!

Is it just me, or does Christopher Paolini look a lot like Will from the Inbetweeners …
A half-dozen times, indignant dogs ran out to protest the invasion of their territories. Eragon tried to calm them with his mind, but the only way he found to stop the dogs from barking was to assure them that their terrible teeth and claws had scared him and Arya away. Pleased with their success, the dogs pranced with wagging tails back to the barns, sheds, and porches where they had been standing guard over their fiefdoms. Their smug confidence amused Eragon.

‘You cannot help but be human,’ said Saphira, attempting to comfort Nasuada. ‘Yet you do not have to be bound by what those around you believe.’

Christopher Paolini, the author of the best-selling Inheritance Cycle, was in Melbourne on Thursday night. My lovely friend got to go and he got these signed for me. I nearly broke down when I saw them.
