Holy shit. Ok, I usually try not to talk about shows in detail the night they air, but I have to say something about Supergirl.

Like… there’s been chatter going around about how Whedon told Scarlet Witch not to show extreme emotion because “it’s not pretty” but… in Supergirl tonight, the whole episode was about anger. Showing it. Feeling it. Not just hiding it away like a good girl like we’re all expected to. 

AND HOLY SHIT. Extended sequence of the angriest faces Melissa Benoist could make. Like when are you ever allowed to see women make those faces (unless they’re to perpetuate the angry black woman stereotype)? Women, even actresses, ESPECIALLY actresses are expected to look pretty above all, so good job, Supergirl, for showing the emotion.

Supergirl may be more Feminism 101 than the nuance I’d hope for, but it’s getting better and better by the episode.
