Arthur is instantly attracted to the handsome Merlin Emrys, Captain of the ship Kilgharrah. Their courtship is slow (it's in a time when homosexuality is a crime) but intense. As Captain of a ship, Merlin is away from Arthur (sometimes for long periods of time), but always comes back to him with open arms. The sexual tension is stifling, but that's what makes the NC-17 scenes so rewarding. The lust and desire is obvious, with a fair bit of fluff thrown in at the end. Beautiful fic, amazing diction.

hey, i was wondering if you could give me a list of merthur fanfics that contain extreme cuteness and fluff? I'm basically asking for something that will give me death by feels. Ok, so, I'm giving you "three-of-each" because otherwise I'll be here forever; I'm also sticking to Modern AUs because they're properly bookmarked here, so, there you go.Wherein You'll Die By Fluff
First and most obviously: Cofeeshop Muffins which is sickeningly sweet and an absolute fan favourite - in which they don't even know they're dating but no one else is fooled. Also, in spite of the name, it DOESN'T involve a coffeshop.
Then you have Possibly Maybe I'm Falling Over You because, clearly, there must be some actual coffeshop romance.
And, finally, In Love With My Radio that includes fluff, obliviousness and pining in equal measures. It is adorable.
(There are many others I love, but these also happen to be the ones I've re-read recently and that aren't part of a bigger series)
Wherein You'll Get Bully-ish To Lover
Exhibit - In which they truly hate each other. Until they don't. It's a long until, since it's a 100k word fic - but worth it.
Not Quite Hogwarts - In which they're competing and rival College Professors but still manage to fall in love.
The Dragon's Circle - This one is part of an on-going series, started at Paperlegends 2012 (2nd installment was on Paperlegends 2013); in which Arthur is QUITE the bully-but-has-a-heart-that-beats-for-Merlin.
Wherein You'll Suffer For Merlin, Really
What Looks Like Crazy - Merlin has known he has HIV for years and is subliming any romance on his part. Arthur doesn't think it's quite necessary.
An Infallible Reason - This one goes the other way around: Arthur's already in love with Merlin when shit happens - and shit means he can't really do anything about how he feels. Still, he stands by Merlin as much as he can. Take heed, because this fic left me in a fetal position and sobbing without tears for hours.
Till The End of Today - NOT QUITE what you asked for since it's more apolitical, but it does have a very depressed Merlin that Arthur saves (and proceeds to save the rest of the world through it).

I lost a fic and no one knows it! maybe you can help? it was on ao3 but I can't find it anymore: unhappy reincarnation fic, merlin waits for centuries, and when arthur returns they don't get along anymore because merlin's turned bitter and arthur is overwhelmed and they just don't click anymore, and in the end arthur moves away and merlin doesn't even notice it. I think there were cameos from legolas and the doctor, too, not sure though. any ideas? thank you!
