hey just wanted to say I love your blog!

i stopped listening to CB after Neil left because they didn’t sound the same. But I’m glad this is archived cause he’s really funny and hot lmao- also you’ve probably answered this before, but what exactly happened between the band mates? from what I read it wasn’t good

hello there!! always lovely to hear from ppl new to this blog ❣️i feel u on all fronts — likewise i refused to listen to cb after tears was released for obvious reasons but I'm certain Neil left a pretty giant hole.

as for the split, I can't speak on the specifics, but the new more commercial and record company-driven direction the band took after he left indicates a pretty strong rift between where the band's priorities lay. Neil joined CB when he and Grace were playing chamber music in Cambridge while he DJed house music at night, and the music they produced together in the aftermath spoke to that. With Neil gone, the heavy classical/violin-driven sound behind the pop left too. Luckily, Neil's background in economics and politics meant he never relied on music solely to make a living but i think i speak for everyone by saying we all feel his absence terribly. (i miss the controlled chaotic energy he gave to the otherwise wooden and stilted vibes the remaining band members seem to emit but that's just me 🤭.)
