Happy Birthday Rik Mayall
You funny, magnificent bastard you.
Rik Mayall (1958-2014)
I felt the need to compile a list of these Rik quotes.
St. James tobacco is very, very special.

"Just shut up and watch the play, right? You leave me alone, we’re never going to get out of South-fucking-hampton…” - Rik Mayall, Bottom Live, The Mayflower Theatre Southampton, 1993
Hi I'm 32 and I haven't really thought much about rik since I was little and since his passing I am sad but at the same time I have discovered more of his shows that I couldn't while young and instead of feeling sad all the time I just keep falling in love with him more all the time!!! I guess I just want to know if I'm too old to love a celeb and if its sick?
I'm sure our followers will agree that there's no age limit on Rik appreciation! Embrace it ;)
As I'm sure most of you are already aware, today we learnt of the heartbreaking news that Rik passed away this morning at the age of 56.
If you follow us, we're sure you agree that Rik was without question an absolute comedy legend. His mad, anarchic, and often fabulously egotistical characters such as Lord Flashheart, Richard Richard, Rick (with a silent P), and Drop Dead Fred (to name a few) will undoubtedly live on for many years without him.
Rik's long-time comedy partner Adrian Edmondson had this to say today:
There were times when Rik and I were writing together when we almost died laughing. They were some of the most carefree stupid days I ever had, and I feel privileged to have shared them with him.
And now he's died for real. Without me. Selfish bastard.
Messages expressing sadness at Rik's death have not only flooded our own inbox today, but also news and social media everywhere, making it clear just how much-loved and missed he will be.
Rest in Peace, Rik. You truly were fantastic.
Rik Mayall talking about his latest character, Elton, in The Last Hurrah
Rik Mayall: “Writing Elton was a joy. He is such an unspeakable cu…character. Yet for all his terrible behaviour, and despite his knack for doing well out of wars and human catastrophes, Elton has a very British charm and elegance, he’s just gorgeous. The Last Hurrah, to me, speaks so much about the feeling of a lost Britishness; a crumbling Empire, gloriously carrying on regardless in its secret self-contained world. I adore the fact that as a club member, Elton has knocked back drinks with Picasso, Beethoven, Wilde, Ivan the Terrible, Vlad the Impaler, Hitler – all the greats.”
