Lord, grant that I shall never seek so much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, or to be loved as to love with all my heart. With all my heart.

“But your touch, it calms people. That’s a gift from god.”
Get to Know Me [2/5] favorite male characters ↳Technician Fourth Grade Eugene Roe [Band of Brothers]
“What happens if I get hit?” “I’ll be there, sir.”
“He was there when he was needed, and how he got ‘there’ you often wondered. He never received recognition for his bravery, his heroic servicing of the wounded. I recommended him for a Silver Star after a devastating firefight when his exploits were typically outstanding. Maybe I didn’t use the proper words and phrases, perhaps Lieutenant Dike didn’t approve, or somewhere along the line it was cast aside. I don’t know. I never knew except that if any man who struggled in the snow and the cold, in the many attacks through the open and through the woods, ever deserved such a medal, it was our medic, Gene Roe.”
He was in a lot of pain, doc. We didn’t know what to do.
When heavy fighting erupted, the rifleman could dive into a foxhole, but when “Medic!” was screamed out, the medic had to go out into the hail of gunfire or shelling at the risk of his own life for others. Day and night they faced casualties, their own exhaustion, and broken men. Day in, day out, they were armed with the heartbreaking task of caring for broken bodies and shattered nerves, all while trying to be cheerful as their own emotions were packed solid in a bully full of tied up guts; all the time wondering when their own number would be up. The combat medic was one of the most dangerous jobs in the infantry, and in most cases the only protection he carried was his medical flag.
I don't usually do this but this is a cause close to my heart. Rose is a ten month old puppy found in a dumpster yesterday, severely battered and bruised with broken bones. Someone had abuses the sweet pup and tossed her out like garbage. I hope you guys can help me spread the word, even if you can't donate yourself, but even five dollars will help towards being able to relieve her pain and give her the life she deserves.
