Bigby and Snow

There’s something to be said against romance as a plot initiative. More often than not, it’s undeveloped and uncalled for, reducing it’s characters to their most basic traits with no chemistry or compatibility. While I cannot speak for everyone, I think we have all seen more fictional romances that are, at best, lukewarm, rather than those that are not.

Bigby and Snow is not one of those romances.

From the first issue of Fables, or at least the first arc, the two of them have an unspoken chemistry. Both Bigby and Snow are cynical and disenchanted, but still bear the weight of their responsibilities and don’t shy away from the realities of their world. In their own way, they are each also deeply empathic characters, though for different reasons, and the friction in their relationship stems from those reasons. The two characters support each other, and level each other out; Snow makes Bigby more concerned for the future and the Fables community, while Bigby pushes Snow to examine the hard parts of being a Fable and assert herself as a character more. Just to avoid saying anything more, I feel like if Fables had ended at Volume 8, I would have been happy with that.

can we talk about the Moment in the wolf among us where bigby tells snow he doesn’t wanna lose her and without even missing a beat she replies with “i’m not yours to lose”. and bigby has to do some speedy soul searching because he knows she’s literally too good for him and the entirety of fabletown in that one sentence Damn Right!!!!!

Why couldn’t there have been an option to kiss snow? Bigby loves her so much it’s not even funny. I needed that more than anything and telltale has ruined me.
