(a.k.a Iantha Dusklight and the Last Scarlet Crusaders)
Iantha Dusklight, a Sin'dorei warlock of some repute, is contacted by a member of the Ebon Blade requesting help with a task in the Eastern Plaguelands. Initially wary of his motivations, she agrees, and embarks on a misadventure that she, unfortunately, did sign up for.
Thinking about starting another draft edit of Iantha stories. The one I'm looking at has like 124k words (compared to Terms & Consequences 22k), so it would be a major undertaking.
was tagged by the currently on the verge of britney crashout @royalblueheart who is not really a blue fan (total betrayal).
Oh well, to the result: who could have foreseen this?
Once in a while I will drag @toyboy-molloy because this is not writing related. I'll drag @all-truths-wait-in-all-things @darkandstormyranger and anyone else that is interested to do it because I can't remember my own moots that haven't been tagged right now
(thanks, pain (đá´ _á´)đ).
I was on the fence about posting this story, but in light of my last reblog, it seems appropriate. A few minor details have been changed so as to preserve some small manner of privacy.
The story is in GĂ idhlig (English translation follows), and is a first hand account of my own experience with the forerunner known locally in my community as "The Bone-Knockers".
Side note for you GĂ idhlig-speakers: you'll notice some usage of the srĂ c gheur in places. This is normal, since N.S. did not officially adopt the GOC. Also, it hasn't yet been proofread for grammar (a task for next week I hope!).

Na Gnogadairean-CnĂ imh
Innsidh mi dhuibh sgeulachd taibhse mu dheoghainn ro-thachaireas, no droch-chomharra bho Alba Nuadh, far a bheil mi Ă s. âS e na âgnogadairean-cnĂ imhâ a thâ air.
O chionn fhada, bha maighstir-sgoile olc ann. Bha e aâ fuireach ann an seann-taigheâan aon taigh a bha thogadh mise ann. Chan eil sinn cinnteach carson a bha e âolcâ. âS dòcha gun robh grĂ in aig a sgoilearan air.
Co-dhiĂš, tha daoine ag rĂ dh ĂĄs dĂŠidh bhĂ saich e gun robh mĂ ganan is greollain aâ lĂŹonadh an seann-taighe far an robh e na laighe, agus gun do lean iad an ciste sĂŹos an rathad chun cladh!
Bâ ann ĂĄs dĂŠidh seo a thoisich na gnogadairean-cnĂ imh.
Thuirt na seann daoine ri mise is mo bhrĂ thair: âNuair a chluinneadh tu fuaim coltach ri cnĂ mhan aâ bhualadh orra fhĂŠin, bhiodh cogadh aâ tighinn!â
Cha robh mise no mo bhrĂ thair a-riamh aâ faicinn na gnogadairean-cnĂ imh, ged a bha sinn gan cluinntinn iomadh uair. Nuair a dhâfheuchamaid ri tighinn faisg orra, ghluaiseadh iad a-null is a-nall, agus bhoidh an fuaim gu h-obann fad ĂĄs!
Abair dĂŹomhaireachd...

The Bone-Knockers
I will tell you a ghost story about a forerunner, or a bad omen, from Nova Scotia, where I am from. It is called the âbone knockersâ.
A long time ago, there was a wicked schoolmaster. He lived in an old houseâthe same house that I was raised in. We are not sure why he was âwickedâ. Perhaps his pupils hated him.
Anyway, people say that after he died, toads and crickets filled the old house where he lay, and that they followed his coffin down the road to the cemetery!
It was after this that the bone knockers began.
The old people told my brother and me: âWhen you hear a sound like bones knocking against each other, war is coming!â
Neither my brother nor I had ever seen the bone rattlers, although we had heard them many times. When we tried to get close to them, they would move back and forth, and the sound would suddenly be far away!
its so fucked that not only did they erase our languages and beat and kill our people for using them but they stole the words of important tribes and important people and used them for the military and for trees and for food and for summer camps. average native american name is seen by non ntvs as a joke or something to use or consume, not a human being
i like that ppl r thinking abt town names and things thats very good to be aware of but just to be clear this is actually specifically about other things actually, the things everyone but those looking up their nation forget about
sequoyah was the man who created the tsalagi syllabary before it was ever a tree
if i try to look for apparel or crafts to show off my chickasaw pride, i get results for chickasaw plums which is just a specific species of plum before i get results about human beings
others have mentioned if they google their nations name they get boot companies before their nations website!
theres a tweet that still haunts me that was about a Quirky Quasi American Restaurant in europe or somewhere that was being funny by being cowboy themed and their steaks were named after native american nations. even outside the usa we are nothing but literal dead meat for others consumption
"blackhawk" "apache" - fuck theres a whole wikipedia page for the way weve had our names used for weapons used to colonize and kill us and others!
yes talk about town and location names but you need to look farther than that. it gets so much worse, i promise
wait. the death knights are basically at ICC as soon as the helm breaks. they're there the entire time.
when did sylvanas get a couple of mawsworn to fly through the sky hole, past the death knights, kidnap people from all around the world, and then drag them back?
whitemane and nazgrim reporting on missing leaders like "yeah we saw them dragging them through the sky, it was super fucked up" and genn and lorthemar are like "well did you DO anything?" and theyre like. no.
i get the sky is a very big thing and it would probably be very hard to guard. the sky. in a perimeter fashion. but i mean if you see like eight mawsworn start flying out in groups of two in separate directions, i'd imagine you'd post a couple guys to watch for when they come back to try to intercept them, and that's assuming you're not following them in the first place.
im in hysterics over this btw. some weird guys came out of the sky and we were just like "eh hopefully they don't do anything." do you remember the shadowlands expansion pre-patch. where you just waited around every twenty mintues for a mawsworn to come out of the sky and raise an old wrath boss for you to beat the shit out of. you never bother with the mawsworn guy. literally we just let these guys fuck around.
OBSESSED with this map projection that shows all the GaeltachtaĂ/GĂ idhealtachdan. its so cool to see physically and linguistically the ways in which the Gaelic world is connected
