You probably get asked this a lot, but how do you draw hands? Even when I'm tracing, they look so weird š
I could probably go on and on and on about hands, but here are some key points I compiled! I LOVE drawing hands, and I never hesitate to use my own as a reference

"the time will pass anyways" has truly rocked me to my core since reading it and changed my life.
Horse studies in pencil based on stock images.
This was several months into my "Get Good with Drawing Horses" intensives - feeling more confident in the basic shapes, I was impatient to challenge myself with wackier poses and angles. Also, a lot of these were done in prepartion for the Olympics Chariot Race chapters of my Alexander the Great webcomic.
Finally! The perfectly innocent painting of Mizu and Kai in the episode that broke me is finished!
JUST SOME THOUGHTS! I donāt really like the āgo from the top upā advice on drapery/clothes - if youāre having difficulty try it like this!
YES I see the typo⦠Iām so sorry folks⦠I was in a frenzied rush to make thisā¦ā¦ and Iām too lazy to fix itā¦ā¦

Iām so glad so many people have been enjoying Blue Eye Samurai! I feel so lucky to have been a part of this amazing project as a character designer. I started this drawing just for fun way back when I was on the show, and I finished it up for the release day of the show 2 weeks ago! I love drawing these characters so much. So proud of our whole team!
Me, trying to explain this painting to a friend: it looks like a perfectly innocent picture of Mizu and her horse but it actually contains so much trauma
Anyway hereās a wip :D
Taigenās so funny with the whole āeh Iām in too much pain to spar . . . sike! surprise attack!ā and just fuckin full body tackling Mizu instead

WHY IS DRAWING HANDS SO FUCKING HARD
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
you just gotta figure out how to do the mitten thing! (everybody does it differently, so whatever works for you)
make a little mitten shape, a bump for the big thumb muscle, a line for where you want to knuckles to be (and where the fingers end), and you can work out how the hand does hand things~
you can make them more simple or more real, however you want! hands are weird, so donāt worry if they keep looking wrong for a while, once you figure out what works for you, itāll click. If you practice like 10 or-so basic hand shapes, you can make slight variations on all those, and 10 turns into 20 different hand poses~
Good luck, you can do it, practice until you find your groove, hands are stupid, donāt worry if they donāt look right!
you are a fucking saint x2
I havenāt got a single speck of artistic skill in me but I will reblog for any artist that might find this useful
