The fact that her ego was the thing that hurt more than her body worried Ophelia. Sure she has bruises and a pretty nasty black eye, but it was the fact that she had been bested. It wasn’t a fair fight to begin with, but still. Grabbing coffee for the morning, her glasses covering her face along with the hood of her sweatshirt, the woman walked out of the shop with her bag on her shoulder. Mentally going over everything she needed to accomplish at work as well as trying to figure out an excuse for everything was going to be tough, but lying was what she did well. Paying attention however, was not. She didn’t see the person infront of her till she had ran into them, spilling her coffee all over the sidewalk. looking down at it with a sad face, Ophelia sighed before looking up at them.
“Well, that sucks. Sorry about that.”
“It’s fine...at least it didn’t fall on me” The coffee wasn’t terribly hot by now but still, not to mention she didn’t want to have to wear something stained all day. “And it wasn’t that great anyway, I don’t recommend this store” She finally looked at the woman “Oh..are you okay?”
who: you !!! where: a coffee shop across the street from the headquarters for the new york’s police department.
The morning has a thick grey haze around it, similar to that of a cloud too close to land. Tommy supposes that’s like any aftermath of violence: everyone is dream-like here, half-awake, half-alive. Even those presumed dead. At the barista’s question his eyes flick back towards her, a nod in recognition and a few bills are slid along the counter towards her before taking his coffee from her. As he steps out onto the bustling sidewalk, there’s a fat raindrop that hits him from above, crawling down his brow and stinging one of his eyes slightly as he blinks it away. A mumbled out comment to the person next to him, leaning against the corner of the entryway to the cafe. ‘ Y’always think it’s gonna’ be sunny here, but it gets just as much rain as the west coast does. ‘
Eloise was still gathering herself after gala, it had been quite fun, it had been quite a while since she had attended those kinds of events, sure out of her own free will not to attend until she had made her way on her own and not because her last name but still she had drank a little too much and by the end things were a little blurry but at least she knew she had fun. She was getting a coffee before her rehearsals a little stronger than usual. She was about to go when she felt the rain start, well she was going to wait for a little see if it passed and if now well, she would have to get a little wet today “It was very sunny earlier, we really were lied to by. the sun.”
Was it his second or third champagne on that evening? Michael had lost the count while talking with a lot of people. He was genuinely surprised to see so many people he met during his modeling years, and there was a lot of catching on, not to mention a couple of invites to go back on the high fashion. Gracefully, he dismissed all the invitations, and redirectioned the talk to the party and all the great things they were doing for the charity cause. It wasn’t just about the money, but the publicity the event would have was insane. It seemed that every newspaper, magazine and blogs had someone in the party too.
It didn’t take too long before the event got a serious tone when the police force, the new chief and the mayor and governor stepped on stage. He listened to the governor’s speech, and like many others in the crowd he got in awe with the great news and joined them in the round of applause. Once the speech was over, his glass was empty and the crowd started dispersing. During that movement, he placed his glass on a tray walking by, and then he spotted a familiar face. He opened a bright smile while making his way to her. “Hey, long time no see. How are you?”

She had missed this kinds of parties, she liked the lifestyle she was having at the moment, not really being part of the events she would usually would be and just well having a more relax time but still this was the scene she had grown up in and she did found it fun, even if she also knew that many didn’t think that most of the people here truly care about the cause or other people other than themselves and sure she could say that maybe some were like that but she chose to think that most people cared and well there wasn’t anything wrong with also having a party to celebrate good things happening.
She would also admit that since moving to New York the amount of alcohol she took was much less than before but she figured that it wouldn’t really matter, and it wasn’t like she was drinking much more than what she usually did anyway. So she grabbed another glass of champagne as the governor got on stage. She smiled when she heard the news, she wasn’t totally blind she understood that in any big city there would be crime but clearly the people in charge were taking care of things, she felt even more at ease and in the mood for celebrating after what had just been announced.
Almost as she finished the glass she took she saw a familiar face and she smiled back as he got closer. “Hello Michael, it really has been a while, I’ve been good and you? You seemed to disappear one day.”
“That sounds exhausting and quite boring. The thought of going through this multiple times makes me want to gouge my eyes out. All the bad acting of rich people pretending to care about the poor.” The blonde clearly fit into this place, probably had gone to parties like this since before she could walk. They came from different parts of the world.
“Well they don’t happen every week and in everything the having a good time is more on you than others. And I guess it’s also about personal preferences.” She said with a shrug “Oh that. I think some do care and do want to help, and even if there are some that don’t at least they are doing something that would benefit people even if they personally are doing it for more selfish reasons.”
Aysun was disgusted with the amount of opulence she noticed looking at various things in the room. couldn’t the money they have spent on decorations and fancy food and drinks have gone to charity as well? would they donate what was left over or simply throw it away? to them everything was expendable after all, so it wouldn’t surprise her in the least bit. Was this what rich people believed fun to be? “So what’s the agenda at events like this? or is it always different?” She was doing her best of not sticking out like a sore thumb and thought she was doing quite well. until they brought out tiny food with multiple forks, she would certainly be lost then.
“I suppose they try to make them different but truly at the end of the day is always the same” she said with a small shrug, she didn’t mind it really, she still find them fun and after not being in one for a little while she found the familiarity a little comforting
Jakob had been spending the last thirty minutes discussing genetics with one of his mentors, a pin from the Wildlife Conservation Society on his lapel, and a glass of wine in his hand. If he had recognized a few customers among the guests, and another few familiar faces, he hadn’t had the chance to go speak to any of them just yet. But, there were people he couldn’t tell off, and the people in charge of validating his thesis fit this category well.
At last, the conversation came to an end however, as a donator approached the pair, with the intent to speak with the one with the PhD. Offensive. Jakob smiled politely as he was introduced, although was quick to excuse himself and rather than taking advantage of being alone, was swift to head toward that someone in the crowd he thought he had recognized. “Long time no see,” he declared, with a light tap to the shoulder.
“Oh...hello” She said smiling, trying to remember if she had ever met this guy before, she had a good memory but she also had met so many people lately that every now and then people would slip her mind and she did felt somewhat bad about that. “I am terribly sorry but...do I know you?”
The lights that were hanging in the ballroom made it look like a sparkling dream. Honestly, Ophelia had no clue why she was there that night, but she was told she was needed there to make an appearance, and she went where she was told. Plus who didn’t like dressing up in expensive gowns and pretending to be normal for a night? Taking a drink from her glass she the woman looked around and watched everyone talking and laughing in their little groups, slowly keeping an eye on the people she needed to look out for. Noticing someone next to her, she moved her head slightly towards them without taking her eyes off the crowd.
“This city really knows how to throw a party, don’t they?”
It had been some time since Eloise attended a party like this, and honestly had missed it, well mainly the getting dressed in a nice dress and all that, plus fundraisers were always nice, her parents, though mostly her mother always said that if they were lucky to have so much they truly should try and give back as much as possible,. Still attending without truly knowing many people was a little daunting, but she just hid away any anxiousness she may have. She grabbed something to drink “It really does, everything looks amazing” She replied to the woman that had began to talk to her “And it appears half the city is here too”
“ you can get drunk on nice , pink , valentine themed cocktails –- this is insanity . and it’s not even cute . ” she pushes the empty shot as far as her hand will reach — leaning back into her seat . biased , however , seen as she was that fond of alcohol to begin with —- being brought up in a fairly strict and borderline religious household will have that effect on you . despite all the corners she’s turned , that little silver cross still hangs from neck ; a constant little reminder she hasn’t exactly been living up to its standards . she’ll occasionally fidget with it , in an attempt to calm her nerves or maybe , just maybe — desperately attempt to grasp its meaning again . “ i wouldn’t take me too seriously — i’m alone and hypocritical — but you’re not wrong about the traffic . my roller-skates are seriously looking so attractive right now. ”
“Well yeah, I mean if you will get drunk and feel bad tomorrow at least make the process of getting drunk enjoyable you know.” She said taking a sip of her pink drink, “I suppose it depends on what you want, a slow but enjoyable ride or short and to the point but not very pleasant.” Which in a way could be said for many things in life, though she had to be honest here, her life had never been hard, but that wasn’t the point “Well at least we can cheer about the being alone, i was here with a friend but...I think she found someone to have a valentine’s night.” she said shrugging
location:anywhere fitting !
status:open to everyone ;)
" screw valentine’s day ... who cares about flowers & chocolates anyways ? — pizza is way … way superior . ” call it lingering bitterness , if you will . this holiday used to be sacred , she used to sing along all the stupid songs on the radio and stretch herself out the car window , letting the wind whip her hair violently ; it used to be fun .
now she looks down into the rippled reflection of a girl , swishing back & forth in the small container , fragments of contemplation lost in judgement-imparing liquor . this torpor is not her own , but it has been built : brick by brick , by those very own hands that now swing another shot down her throat . her button nose scrunches up on cue – head shaking , body shivering , face pulled in like a rubber-band out of pure , jovial disgust ; the kind that has not yet grown indifferent to the aftertaste of alcohol . “ yuck ! ——- eeew ( it trots out of her throat in interrupted chortles of coughing laughter ) that’s just … that’s terrible , man ! there’s no way you don’t drink that just to look cool , i don’t believe it … ”
“I don’t think anyone truly thinks a shot of vodka is good but I do think many use it to get drunk fast.” She said with a small shrug, the vodka in question didn’t seem to be the best quality either, though if she was honest growing up drinking only the best and most expensive anything below that she would consider low quality but she keeps those thoughts to herself, and frankly she had seen peers of hers take worst things just to get drunk fast “But I do agree Valentine’s isn’t great even if you have someone, like everything is full and trafic is worse than normal.”
Central Park was one of her favorite places in the city, in the middle of concrete and massive buildings it was quite nice to have a place where surrounded by greenery and ponds, she wouldn’t exactly call it peaceful, not really but still was a place to have a small break from the chaos of the city. Eloise wasn’t intimidated by the city or felt overwhelmed by it - largely because she had been all around the world and if she was honest she had been in more chaotic cities though to be fair too, she wasn’t living in those places.- but still sometimes it was good to be somewhere where you could see more than people and concrete.
She also needed a break after the phone call with her parents, they still were supportive of course but every time they talked she got the feeling they would prefer if she was doing something else or maybe that she took more advantage of the family name - good thing that stage names are still very much a thing- , one would think they’d be more proud that she was making it on her own without using any kind of leverage. Then again she could just be imagining things, her own insecurities showing and pushing them into her parents.
But she was happy here and she was happy doing things her own way and wasn’t that all that mattered? She stopped to watch the Alice in Wonderland statue - the hatter had such a creepy face- when she noticed a notebook just laying there, she picked it up and looked around there were not many people around so she got to the nearest person “Excuse me, is this yours?”

— BIOGRAPHY
She was born into a very wealthy family, as an only child too so she really grew up being the center of attention of her parents and having anything she wanted she would have it without question, and though they did spoil her her parents did try and thought her that money doesn’t make anyone more or less and that she was privileged so she should give back. They also however tried to shelter her as much as they could of the harsher realities of the world too.
When she was eleven they went to New York and there she went to Broadway for the first time and she instantly fell in love, she told her parents that she wanted to be an actress when she grew up and they were accepting although really they thought she would move on from that soon enough.
But it wasn’t a phase and soon enough she was enrolling the drama club at her school, taking proper classes, everything And then when the time came she sent her application to Juliard. The day she was accepted she threw a big party with all her friends and it was one of the best days of her life until one “friend” suggested that she only got in because of her last name and money not because of talent.
She went to school always with that coment on the back of her head and so she decided that she would just use another name and no one had to know who her family were. And she also decided that she wanted to achieve everything on her own, her parents weren’t thrilled but there was not much they could do about it.
After graduation she has been working hard on her career, the only thing she let her parents do for her was get her a nice apartment. She recently got an important role in an off Broadway show and they are hopping it will go to Broadway soon enough, is not the lead yet but is important and she loves the role. As far as she knows her parents have respected her choice to make her own path.
