Vanitas:

The moment his Master had fallen and the Heroes of Light had turned their attention to him, he panicked. Keyblades were now trained on him, his own raised in a means of defense as his breathing became labored, something inside of him screaming at him to live. Both parties hesitated, but he couldn’t get rid of the feeling trying to claw its way out.
When his body finally allowed him to move, he quickly opened a portal behind him, not caring where the other side led to. He only knew that he needed to run. Without looking back, he retreated swiftly, nearly stumbling over himself as he exited the swirling darkness. Once the portal had closed, his Keyblade was thrust into the ground beneath him, leaving him something to grasp onto as he fell to his knees.
Now that the adrenaline from battle was beginning to wear off, the pain running through his battered and bruised body became unbearable. Parts of his suit were torn, something he could easily fix by calling upon the darkness once again, but he had exhausted himself. His body trembled, causing him to readjust his grip on his Keyblade’s hilt as he faltered.
He needed to find somewhere to hide. Vanitas let his gaze scan the area briefly, though none of it was registering with him. Where was he? How far from the battle site had he gone? He gave up on trying to figure it out, eyes closing as he tried to will the pain away. Wherever he was, he was safe for the time being, wasn’t he?
He was highly worried that something might happened to Vanitas. He wasn’t sure why, all the sudden his body reacted in a way he has never expected to be. Surely, there were still some things that he had to talk with his other half, even if he tried to kill Aqua again, Ventus didn’t feel hatred towards him neither he did blame him for act the way he did.
It was all his fault since the beginning, he didn’t want to admit it because of fear, fear of not being able to handle it again....for fear that he'd reject him again? Why? he was the one who has rejected his own darkness. Ventus blamed himself for that, his fault couldn't be undone but still, he could try to mend it by being by Vanitas' side.
The blond searched for several places he believed Vanitas would be hiding, until he reached to a very desolated forest. Ventus started to walk through of it, finding nothing but trees and vegetation. He sighed and looked at the ground, he noticed there were a few stepprints of boots.
"huh?"
he realized that someone was on here, at least not too far away from it.
He decided to keep searching in hopes he'd find his other half.
That's when he found him, Vanitas was lying on the ground, exhausted. Ventus inmmediately went towards him and kneeled down, what happened to him? With concern he used curaga on him, in hopes that would help him to feel less pain. But...maybe the pain...was himself.
Ventus couldn’t help but think about that.
