Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, often affectionately referred to as the "Warthog".
Key features and specifications of the A-10 include:
Primary Mission: Designed specifically for close air support (CAS) of ground forces, it is known for its ability to destroy armored vehicles, tanks, and other ground targets.
Armament: It is famously built around its 30mm GAU-8/A Avenger rotary cannon, and it features 11 hardpoints for carrying a wide variety of ordnance.
Survivability: The aircraft is highly durable, featuring extensive armor protection for the pilot and critical flight systems, as well as redundant structural sections to survive direct hits from ground fire.
Performance: It is a single-seat, twin-turbofan, subsonic attack aircraft optimized for maneuverability and loiter time at low altitudes rather than high speed.

French Dassault Rafale fighter jet armed with an ASMP-A nuclear missile. France 🇫🇷 should give Ukraine 🇺🇦 a few of those…

Weaponry: The F-14’s AIM-54 Phoenix was a Mach 5, 1,000 lb missile with 150+ km range and autonomous terminal guidance. The Hornet relied on AIM-7 Sparrow — Mach 4, 45 km range, that needed radar guidance till impact. This created a huge survivability gap against Soviet fighters entering service at the time. 4/4

A Tomcat from VF-102 "Diamondbacks" getting ready for launch. Tomcats from VF-102 hold a unique distinction. In 1983, two Diamondback F-14s on a routine recon mission near the port of Berbera, Somalia, were engaged by ground defenses. Mistaken for Ethiopian MiGs, the Somalis launched a couple of SA-2s against the Tomcat. Thankfully, the jets evaded fire and returned safely.
