When the interns have free time from deliver maternal medical kits and promoting maternal-fetal health they get the opportunity to help the communities in Uganda with other side projects! Yesterday they participated in a Rotaract project at Salama School for the Blind in Mukono District. The interns planted fruit trees and fixed one of the boys dormitories by painting both the inside and outside and installing new windows. An Interact club from Seeta High School joined them to discuss their school and career goals. What a great opportunity to get more involved with different community projects! #FullSoulInternExperience #Uganda2018 #FullSoulCanada #maternalhealth
This is Sister Beatrice (centre), head midwife, and Sister Hilda (centre left), a senior midwife. They work at Kawolo Hospital, one of FullSoul's three main hospitals with the MMK program implemented in them. Our FullSoul interns met them at the beginning of the trip back in January and they have been vital in taking part of FullSoul’s mission to provide safe and accessible maternal care. It’s women like this that help pave the way for taking care of our mothers, sisters, wives and friends, sometimes even in the face of adversity. “Here's to strong women, may we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.” Happy International Women's Day! #FullSoulCanada #maternalhealthmatters #iwd2018 #internationalwomensday #tbt

"Wow! It is unbelievable that three weeks have already passed. At the same time, it is equally baffling that we have only spent three weeks here in Mukono, Uganda! Truly, now, our accommodations at the Ugandan Christian University feel like home. These past three weeks have been nothing less than an exciting whirl of events. Events much different than what we are used to back in Canada! In order for these blog posts to not be too terribly long, we will be reporting on a weekly basis, so stay tuned!" A little snippet of the newest blog post on FullSoul's page, check out the link in our bio for more! #FullSoulCanada #FullSoul #uganda2018 #internexperience
On world TB days, we remember the risk mothers and babies face with the disease, and the role health care providers have in preventing, especially for #MaternalHealth ---------------- Maternal and #childhealth providers play an important role in ending preventable child deaths from #Tuberculosis. ----------------- #WorldTBDay #WorldTuberculosisDay #TB #EndTB #WorldHealthOrganization @UNICEF ™@who
This is what #Sindica looks like. Our #FullSoul team in Uganda 🇺🇬, getting ready to deliver medical kits to Mukono Health Centre IV. This is where it all started. We have a team of 12 with us for our time here; Supporters, Volunteers, Founders- but most of all, FullSoulers. These medical kits contain tools that can help provide a safe birth for mother and baby, as well as the medical professionals that work in these centres! 🏥 The end of 2016 brought over 500 medical delivery tools to mothers here in Uganda. Looking forward to our charging momentum moving into 2017! 🌍 #Sindica #FullSoul #Uganda #BetterMaternalHealth #MNCH #MaternalHealth #MaternalMortality

“Never underestimate the ability of a small group of dedicated people to change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”- Margaret Mead
“There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered,”- Nelson Mandela Both of our co-founders, Christina (left) and Hyder, as Christina is presented the Peacemaker Medallion by YMCA's of Southwestern Ontario. 🌍Christina spoke on how returning to a place, and how moving on and making change in a world that left her so changed led to FullSoul; read more in our latest blog post (link in bio). 🇺🇬 #Sindica #BeTheChange #Mandela #NelsonMandela #BetterMaternalHealth #MNCH #Peacemaker #YMCA #Ontario #SWO #SouthWesternOntario #CanadaYMCA #SocialEnterprise #FullSoul #PeacemakerMedallion #Uganda #FullSoulCanada #EastAfrica #MaternalHealth #MaternalMortality

Happy Ugandan Independence Day!! October 9th marks the day Uganda gained independence from the UK in 1962. Did you know the bird on the Ugandan flag is the gray crowned crane? An image used on military badges during the UK rule, the raised leg on the flag represents moving forward for the country. Forward movement has been the motion for #MaternalHealth, but we still have a long way to go! Access to efficient, safe and sanitary birthing kits is a huge step in that forward #Sindica to #BetterMaternalHealth #Uganda #FullSoul #MNCH (at Uganda)
Repost from @unicefuganda: Reporting that from 1995-2011, maternal mortality has declined from 527 per 100, 000 to 438 per 100, 000 live births. ...... While this is amazing, and the work of so many individuals working hard to make this change, the main causes of maternal mortality are "haemorrhage, obstructed labour, unsafe or complicated abortion, malaria, anaemia" (Unicef) and an increase change of HIV/AIDS- all either preventable or easily treatable with the proper tools, staff and education. #BestStartInLife #BetterMaternalHealth #Uganda #EastAfrica #Sindica #BetterMaternalHealth #MNCH #MaternalHealth #NewbornHealth
