Just came across this guyâs work, Nagashima Yusei. Genuinely more than I can handle. I need to plaster these to my face.

Darwinâs Children Drew All Over the On The Origin of Species Manuscript
The Cambridge University Library has given the picture above the descriptive name âThe Battle of the Fruit and Vegetable Soldiers,â and so indeed it seems to be. Perhaps inspired by the 1839-1842 Anglo-Afghan War, and filtered through the Darwin householdâs fascination with plants and gardening?
The second picture above is seemingly directly inspired by their fatherâs work. Birds are in the act of catching a spider and a gnat or bee, while flowers and a butterfly appear in remarkable detail.
Amazingly, the Darwin kids even got into their motherâs diary:

Itâs ironic.
When I worked in fast food for minimum wage, they would yell at us and lecture us about âstealingâ fries and burgers (while we had to throw out TONS of food every day) as though the giant billion-dollar corporations of McDonaldâs and Sonic couldnât afford to give their employees something to eat (while not even paying us a living wage).
Now I work at an upscale restaurant (itâs fancy, like celebrities eat there fairly often) and not only do I make WAY better money but they give us 2 free meals a day (eaten on the clock) and theyâre GOOD. Today I got baked cod, spring rolls, rice pilaf, stir fry, and mashed potatoes and eggplant. Oh, and free espresso and juice. From this restaurant owned by a local man who is in no way a billionaire.
Obviously money is not the issue, valuing your employees as people is.
This needs all of the reblogs. Â All of them.

Thatâs what a nation, a people, is.

This! This is why I start cursing like a sailor the minute someone brings up aaaallll the things we the people can do to stop climate change.
Spoiler: itâs nothing. Oh, sure, you can recycle your trash, but that doesnât mean much when it all ends up getting burned anyway because our economy doesnât have anywhere near the capacity to deal with the sheer mass of trash, and no interest in doing so. Like, âsure, our company could switch to environmentally friendly packaging, but thatâd mean weâd have to change things and it might cost us a whole cent more per article and thatâs just not viable you know, so sorry.â
Or, yes, you can absolutely bike to work instead of driving, but your CO2 emissions are nothing against what big companies blow into the atmosphere every second. Nothing.
Or, yes, you can absolutely grow bee-friendly plants in your yard, but that wonât save them.
By all means, be environmentally conscious! In fact, I strongly encourage you to be! But letâs be real here, our individual footprints on this planet arenât whatâs killing it. Big Industry is.
Same with food/water waste!! It annoys me so much when commercials and govât campaigns emphasize individual waste when corporations are doing the OVERWHELMING majority of the wasting.
