I think he will bounce around to many heroes because he can’t decide (mostly because he is still holding on to the idea of hawks being his mentor and can’t let go)
These are not in any particular order
Mirko- Tokoyami’s fighting style actually uses his legs (as seen in earlier seasons); he also ran after hawks for hours in his first internship. This guy has some serious leg power and mirko will show him how to use them. Dark Shadow likes her confidence and attitude but tokoyami finds her crass. Tokoyami has to learn to listen to his instincts with her and maybe go a little wild
Mount Lady- dark shadow learning how to navigate their Kaiju form in a crowded city. Dark shadows body is more fluid and they can change size and shape more easily than mt lady but shadow really likes her and wanted to go anyway. It was a fun experience at least
Fatgum- He worked with Fatgum at the gunga mountain raid and he was specifically asked by him to come intern. It doesn’t go very well, tokoyami is used to hawks’ fast pace and Fatgum is too slow. Tokoyami races ahead at one point and gets into trouble. This internship he learns the least but it helps him deal with his emotions and to move on from hawks
Edgeshot- Dark Shadow can be any size including veeeery tiny. They could pull off most of Edgeshots moves with practice. Unfortunately he is weakened after the war so this will have to wait till third year at least
Ryukyu- you are so right he should definitely have an internship with her. Her flight, strength, size are similar to dark shadow’s abilities, even her calm and calculated personality is similar to tokoyami. Dark Shadow would switch between soaking up the attention she is giving to teach them and being pissy because or her straight forward attitude (specifically because it reminds them of tokoyami, DS does NOT need two of him). I don’t have a full idea of her character or backstory but I think it would be really interesting she had a similar story toko in that she hurt someone by accident once and holds that guilt with her. Essentially they would get along really well and I think she is one of the best contenders to be his next “master”
Best Jeanist- This internship also does not go very well. Best Jeanist is very strict and tidy, unfortunately so is tokoyami and being in Jeanist’s presence accentuates this trait in him and he feels like he has to be perfect and obedient. Bakugo does his bakugo thing (because he is also there) where he yells at tokoyami to help him and Jeanist realizes tokoyami is already perfect and kicks him out so he can focus on bakugo lol. Dark shadow does learn some neat tricks for restraining people better but they didn’t like Jeanist so it’s not much learned
Unfortunately we don’t really know any fully night time heros or even ones with a dark aesthetic (besides Odd-Eye)…except maybe one…Dark Crystal. We don’t know anything about Dark Crystal except that tokoyami looks up to them. I feel like this person could be the best option for him if you were to make up a story for them. I have my own thoughts but I wouldn’t share them here.
Hawks- huh?? Hawks isn’t a hero any more why is he on here?? Because there is still so much he can teach tokoyami! He can teach toko spy work like making disguises, forming personas, ext. He can also teach toko how to use a sword or knives. Unfortunately all this attention on toko has Dark Shadow very jealous and they end up blowing up at him. Hawks says how he feels like he’s not good enough to teach shadow anything anymore without his quirk :,( They talk it all out and hawks still tries to teach shadow with the knowledge he has like speed, aerodynamics, more spy stuff, ext.
I don’t know if this counts towards your question but if the purpose is for him to have a new “mentor” more so than just a work study then I think it does
Ectoplasm- ectoplasm is so cool it’s a crime there is so little attention given to him in the show. I’ve already talked about how tokoyami and shadow would love him before. His clones are the only other quirk that is truly sentient so of course dark shadow latches on to him. I think Toko would emulate his fighting style a lot (due to the cape)
Eraserhead- tokoyami needs lots of reassurance in his training because he’s already so hard on himself and eraser is…not that. That said he does work in the shadows and fights essentially quirkless so toko and him are similar in that regard. He could teach toko acrobatics to get around easier without shadows help and other basic hand to hand skills. Eraser and Hawks butt heads a lot over teaching tokoyami, tokoyami kinda enjoys watching the drama. Dark Shadow does not enjoy being erased, its like being knocked out cold, they are disoriented and groggy when the effect wears off.
Present Mic- aw yeah this is my guy! Mic can teach tokoyami voice training to project his voice and change the sound. He also helps dark shadow develop their Infernal Shriek. Tokoyami thinks he is too noisy
Snipe- Give tokoyami a gun
In the end I think tokoyami will continue to train under hawks but outside of internships. He will bounce around and learn lots of new skills but there won’t be a permanent change.
