As Garry waited for a reply from the teenager, they pressed their back against one of the walls, taking several more deep breaths.
It hurt so much just to exist within the space of the nightmarish world, and the twenty-five year old felt so tired already. Sticking around any longer than was absolutely necessary would probably shove the lavender haired person off the deep end, if they already weren’t there now.
As the silence descended upon the two of them, Garry’s mind wandered back to the most memorable moments of their prior visit. Mainly, the focus of these flashbacks were of the dolls, and Mary almost murdering both Ib and Garry.
Eiden’s sudden question broke Garry of their disturbing reverie, but they were shaking harder than before. They forced another smile, ignoring the query for the time being as the teenage boy mentioned moving on.
"Yes, getting out should be our priority… I, ah, apologize for spacing out. If you need anything I’ll… do everything I can to help keep you safe."
Garry forced their legs forward, following the halls of the red area that they vaguely remembered. The adult couldn’t allow their mind to haze over with memories anymore. It hurt too much, and there would be enough horrific events happening soon that would be just as painful.
Out of their peripheral vision, they spotted a painting, but as they approached they turned back to look at Eiden to make sure he was following, and only looked forward in time to hear the sound of spitting. Garry scrambled backwards, muffling a shriek before hitting the ground.
"I didn’t… didn’t expect that…" Way to seem reliable, Garry thought briefly, before getting up and brushing themself off. “I should’ve seen that coming, honestly…” At the very least, it really forced the adult out of their darkening thoughts. No more overthinking. It was time to seriously focus on what was ahead, and keeping Eiden safe.
