cameron cook is done such a disservice by the writers. it infuriates me to no end that she’s intentionally underwritten and not given an identity outside of the white!! men she sleeps with. cameron is a prop, an object that these white men use for either sexual pleasure or career advancement. im incredibly perturbed by her story, or lack thereof.

boots riley has such a fascinating vision. sorry to bother you was an incredible watch. i was so moved by it. i love boosters is a thematically relevant, maximalist adventure. even with its third act failures, i still greatly enjoyed it.

#adored this film #incredibly relevant themes of patriarchal violence inflicted by black men against black women #loved how sterling was obscured the whole movie while we learned about his violent acts #then when we see his face it’s just a man #not some caricature villain but a regular person who’s emboldened by society to commit violent acts against those who displease him #is god is #aleshea harris

since vince staple’s new album is coming out i was thinking about his previous projects. rpbmh is one of his best albums, sonically and thematically. the way he conveys stories reminds me solange’s when i get home. his storytelling is so rich and beautiful.

i absolutely despise meek, weak-willed, infantile women with deep-seated insecurities. this archetype is so pervasive in media, especially in romance, even more so if they’re being pursued by an illustrious bachelor(ette). the relatability of these types of characters sickens me because i abhor women who mythologize their suffering and dream of being picked out of obscurity. a lot of times they have a particular disdain and animosity towards women who embody qualities they idolize, but lack. armed with an obsession with loserdom and need for perpetual victimhood, they seek legitimacy in tearing down women who they perceive to be better than them.
