since this got popular i’m gonna answer the questions myself lmaoÂ
what song off a otherwise popular album do you think more people need to hear? mad sounds - am, richard cory - sounds of silence, wyrd - zaba. i could think of more, but i don’t feel like itÂ
what band/ artist needs more love? alexandra savior, medusa, strfkr, mini mansions, laundry, a year ago i would’ve said tv girl but it looks like they’re having their day in the sun nowÂ
who do you think is/ are the most overrated artist/ band? beyonce (i LOVE lemonade, but i don’t think any artist deserves the kind of reverence she gets), also the beatlesÂ
what are your favorite subgenres of music? stoner rock, folk rock, gunfighter country, desert rock, dream pop, baroque pop, psychedelic rockÂ
share a little known fact about a band/ artist you love? i don’t think it’s little known, but queens of the stone age were on an episode of the show toast of londonÂ
when someone asks you for a music recommendation what bands/ artists do you say? pretty much the same artists as the ones i think are underrated, but it depends on who i’m talking toÂ
how much do you actually like those artists, be honest. i really love them, alexandra savior is one of my all time favorite artistsÂ
what is your biggest musical guilty pleasure? love like woe by the ready setÂ
how do you make your playlists? either based off the vibe of the songs or a specific situation (i.e. someone asked me to make them a playlist or a road trip)
what are the best playlists you’ve made? i have a couple good old country onesÂ
what artist have you pretended to listen to to fir in or sound cool? sleeping with sirens when i was like 12
what was the first artist you remember being pretentious about? not an artist, but i remember feeling superior to my friends when i was like 10 cause i listened to the alternative station as well as the top 40s oneÂ
i know you say you hate modern pop, but do you actually? if so, why? honestly it’s just not really for me, freak by doja cat slaps thoÂ
the smiths, mac demarco, tyler, the creator, joy division, brockhampton, the strokes, the cure, frank ocean, neutral milk hotel, radiohead, kendrick lamar, the beatles, weezer, death grips; you can only keep three, which ones will you chose? the strokes, death grips, and frank ocean maybe, but honestly this question is harder than i though it would beÂ
be honest, do you listen to any female artists? if you do do you feel superior to the other pretentious music kids because of it? ngl this question is specifically targeted towards me cause i definitely used to be like this, but i think i’ve gotten over it; however there is definitely still a problem with female artists not getting the recognition that male ones doÂ
how do you feel about artists “selling out”? it depends how they sell out, if they just start doing bigger shows and soften their edge a little it’s fine, but if they completely change their sound and reinvent their image that’s where i tend to draw the line (unless their new shit is actually good, but it almost never is)
do you think going to a big venue is worth it to see an artist live? usually not, but arctic monkeys is such a longtime favorite of mine that i’d be willing to make an exception for themÂ
how do you feel about venues with seats? as a rule i usually hate them, if i’m going to a show i want to fucking rageÂ
what artist did you know about before they got big? tv girl and melanie martinez are the big ones, but i think there were a few othersÂ
how does it make you feel when an unknown artist you like blows up? good for them honestlyÂ
“no one should be judged for their taste in music” do you agree with this statement? yeah, but death metal fans do scare me a little nglÂ
what artist did you try to like because you thought they were “cool”, but just couldn’t get into? the 1975 was the only popular 2014 tumblr band that i just couldn’t get into no matter how hard i triedÂ
what artist can you absolutely not stand? i’m sorry, i consider her to be one of the most talented singers out there, but there is not a single ariana grande song i even kind of likeÂ
what artist do you think influenced your style the most? i know i wrote this question, but i’m honestly not sure if i meant musical or personal style so i’ll give both.Â
personal style: maybe alex turner, i love his 70s vaguely cowboy inspired looksÂ
musical style: joni mitchell, leonard cohen, simon and garfunkel, and fleetwood mac mostly, although i’m sure there are some modern artists in there too Â
do you watch anthony fantano? if o how much do you let him influence your taste in music? i occasionally watch him and i think that 95% of his takes are hot garbageÂ
