Soukatsu on twitter translated some episode commentary from Sayo found in the Go Yuri Go! Book. Some of it we’ve seen, but a lot of it is new.

The ice dancer mentioned in episode six is likely Guillame Cizeron of two time World Champion French team, Papadakis/Cizeron. Yamamoto-sensei mentioned Chris being inspired by him at Japan Expo, Paris and even said that Chris’s instagram would probably resemble Cizeron’s!

Daisuke Takahashi’s 2010 short program, Eye by Coba. He won bronze at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

The thing about shipping is that these days so many people want ships to be the perfect ideal, or else they are “problematic” and shippers of them are horrible people for it.

The problem with that is “perfect” is boring. And sure, it’s fine to look at ships like Victuri and go “Relationship Goals!!!” But we’re human; we like a touch of discourse. As sweet and lovely as a “perfect” ship is, it’s so much more interesting to explore a not-so-perfect pairing. To want to see them together and happy despite everything.

Shipping is just another form of fantasy. Imaginary characters in imaginary situations. A story where there is no conflict is not something that we’d like. Imagine Star Wars without war. Just a bunch of Jedi sitting around going “Yup, keepers of the peace, we are. Good at our job we are. No conflict in the entire galaxy there has been for a thousand years.” The same can be applied to ships.

There are no bad ships, just ships that aren’t right for you as an individual, and your reasons behind not shipping something is just as valid as the reasons someone does.It doesn’t make anyone a bad person. What makes you good or bad is how you treat other real life people, not if you ship something “problematic” or “pure”.
