OUR FINAL VIDEO

A PETA poll showed that 86% of designers at London Fashion Week 2016 didn’t use fur in their collections but that still means that 14% did. This clearly shows that animal abuse is still carried out today. There is no need to be aggressive when trying to inform people of a very serious matter which is why we have chosen to portray the truth of fur farms in a metaphorical way. The whole point of campaigning against fur farms is so that animals have freedom in their natural habitat just the same as we do.

RAD VHS

I found an app on my Iphone which is called ‘Rad VHS’, the idea of the app is to be able to create images and videos using a camcorder filter and style. I really like the style of the images and videos the app creates and they give the ‘edgy’ style that is exactly what we wanted. I think that having the date and time on the video adds to the atmosphere of the video because it makes the viewer really aware that someone has filmed it for a specific purpose. I also think this adds a creepy kind of atmosphere to the video as well because the video is about the fur industry which is a very taboo topic to some people because everybody knows that people are killing animals to wear them and the filters and glitches on the app add this creepy atmosphere because we aren’t showing any animals specifically but we are showing things that represent things that happen on fur farms.

Results - These were the results from our Facebook and Twitter polls. We were really pleased with the outcomes, before doing this we all estimated the results I estimated that face book would be faux 90% Fur 10% and I thought twitter would be faux 80% Fur 30% . I thought this because I assumed we would get more votes anunonomsly on Twitter where people would say what they wanted without feeling there going to upset anyone. We had 29 votes on Facebook and 14votes on Twitter. We were very pleased with that outcome which then led us to do the survey on survey monkey. (Results in book). These polls were only available for 7days each.

Video clip - We included this video into our video because we believed it was like a hidden message, because it was like the skin being ripped off an Animals back. As we didn’t want to show any gruesome videos we thought this is shown but in a much more suitable way for our target audience.

Instagram - This is our Instagram page we created, this was so we could upload photos, videos and general snippets of our work. On here we followed many designers but only ones who didn’t use fur. Our target audience is 14+ years therefore we thought to grab the attention of our audience, we needed a social media account that they use and like. We decided on a slight theme to go alongside our concept of Freedom. We didn’t want to show distressing photographs and videos because we believe that our target audience would not ‘want’ to watch this therefore nobody would like, share and the content wouldn’t be seen. I understand that a lot of the things that happen are gruesome and people should understand what’s happening but we tried to portray this in a different way to suit our target audience. Many of the snippets on here did go into our final video.

Freedom video / This video gives huge impression and makes you feel different to a lot of other videos that are anti-Fur. This video was created without any harmful or disturbing videos which I feel was much more affective. It grabs the audiences attention with gentle slow motion videos and calming colours. Respect for animals is all that was said in the video it was a effective line which grabbed the attention of many. The video uses gentle music giving the impression of freedom, this subtle video is exactly what has inspired us to look at a less violent more gentle video for our audience as we think this will suit better and keep them watching, as no 14+year old wants to watch a disturbing video. We believe this will be much more “attractive” and appealing to our audience.

We have created a survey to find out what our target audience know about the fur industry and what social media platforms would be best for our campaign. Our target audience is people aged 14 and above. We decided this because we feel that we need to educate people of a younger age to make them aware of the fur industry and we could help prevent them buying fur in the future. We also felt that it would be hard to change somebody’s opinion who already agrees with using real fur but it is easier to educate someone about it and they can make their decision based on what they have found out.

ANTI-FUR VIDEO

Myself and my group created this screen recording to raise awareness of the fur industry. We started off by talking about the response to our survey and how surprised we were by how little people know about the fur trade. We then talked about the PETA website which is where we got a lot of our information from which inspired us to create the video. We also show how easy and quick it is to sign the petition to ban fur in great Britain.

To improve our video we want to talk more about what we thought at the start of our project and what shocked us the most.
