This week's animal stories: Magnolia the kitten accidentally became part of a crime story after being stolen from a pet store before a bank robbery. She was found safe and is now looking for a forever home. A newborn giraffe in England was named after football star Jude Bellingham after his World Cup moment. And Clover and Rain, two orphaned mountain lion cubs rescued thousands of miles apart, are starting a new life together.

Punch has become very popular with the babies. This week, they followed him into puddles, played with Punch's orange plushie mama, climbed branches together, and shared dinner 🧡

This week's animal stories:

Foreign reporters came to Turkey for the NATO summit and found Lokum, the Ankara cat who lives at the Presidential Library.

In Brighton, UK, a 6-month-old puppy named Mars distracted an alleged knifeman long enough for his owner to get his young son to safety. Mars was unharmed and rewarded with a giant beef bone.

And Panchito, an Amazon parrot, survived for 9 days under the rubble after the earthquakes in Venezuela. He was found beside his owner, who had died, and was rescued alive, but sadly passed away from his injuries a few days later.

Some reports incorrectly identified Panchito as Victoria. We checked multiple sources and confirmed that the parrot in the footage was Panchito, a male Amazon parrot.

The babies really like Punch now.

This week, one followed him around while he was busy with a branch, another sat beside him asking for attention, and after Punch accidentally stepped on one, he came back for a hug 🧡

Fénix was rescued from the rubble in Venezuela, and now she's going to El Salvador with the rescue team that saved her. She’s going to train to become a rescue dog herself.

This week's animal stories: Neil the seal is back in Tasmania and finding new things to wrestle with, Tsunami the rescue dog completed his final mission after helping find at least 13 people following the earthquakes in Venezuela, and Dog is a cat who works at a fish market in Vietnam and dresses for the job.

Punch is about to reach another milestone. The zoo says they'll begin changing his feeding routine as part of preparing him to fully integrate with the troop.

He's still carrying around his orange plushie, still making questionable decisions about where to nap, and still spending plenty of time with the babies 🧡

This is Achilles. He was born on the streets around 2015, and he later became one of the museum's resident cats. The Hermitage cats have protected the historic cellars since the 18th century, and Achilles was one of them.

Achilles is deaf, but that didn't stop him from becoming the museum's most famous cat. During the 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup, he predicted the matches by choosing between two bowls of food. His caretakers believed his deafness helped him stay focused.

After retiring from his World Cup predictions, Achilles was adopted by the museum's veterinarian and started working as a therapy cat.

This week's animal stories: A missing dog was reunited with her family after her owners spotted her on a livestream during Mexico's World Cup celebrations, the viral "hot dog dog" finally got a name, a fearless cat chased away a black bear, and a rare albino deer made an unexpected appearance in North Carolina. Also, rescuers helped save dogs and cats after this week's earthquakes in Venezuela.

World Cup fever has reached the animal kingdom, more than 400 cats were rescued in Vietnam, Jonathan the tortoise added another Guinness World Records milestone at 194 years old, and a monkey was caught stealing mangoes in Florida.

Also, Bran the sniffer dog and 21 rescued spaniels.

Punch spent this week climbing, swimming, investigating everything, and getting himself into trouble. Fortunately, he still has friends, keepers, and one very important orange plushie mama looking out for him.

This Dog Went on an Unexpected Ocean Adventure A dog named Bruce drifted 2 miles out to sea; a pigeon helped a momma cat and her kittens; Ronaldo the soccer dog is already preparing for the World Cup; Berlin Zoo welcomed a pygmy hippo calf named Bread Roll; and kids are wishing a therapy dog named Willow a happy birthday.

Punch spent this week getting attention from just about everyone. The keepers aka his big brothers, Grandpa, Kibi, and a few monkeys who apparently take his grooming schedule very seriously.

He's still curious, energetic, and somehow always at the center of everything happening on Monkey Mountain.

This week's animal stories: A giant rabbit was spotted wandering through the streets of Paris. Police in Maryland spent hours chasing an escaped emu. A mountain lion lounging in a California backyard, an elephant helping a baby gazelle, a kitten rescued from a storm drain and later adopted, dog-friendly shopping carts in Italy, and a black bear enjoying the best seat in Ottawa.
