ㅤone day, i'm gonna remember to invest in earplugs. maybe then i won't be subjected to every noise in the immediate vicinity — every barking laugh, every drawer that gets closed a little too hard, every ringing telephone that makes me want to rip the landline from the wall and toss the entire unit across the room. i always tell myself i'll buy some. one day, i'm going to remember.

ㅤi stalk into the office we temporarily share and shut the door, one hand running over my face as i breathe a sigh of relief at the now muffled noises outside. i don't mind dilara, by any means, but this backwater town is starting to grate on me. from distrustful locals to the muggy heat that makes my clothes cling to me like a second skin, i'm missing the city something fierce. the sooner we close this case and my services are no longer needed, the better.

ㅤ" morning, " i mumble, making as close to a beeline to the coffee machine as my current hangover will allow. after a quick shower, i'd grabbed half a bagel that'd been left out on the counter and downed it with half a cup of day - old joe. not my proudest moment, but far from my worst.

ㅤhe finds her presence… odd.  not that he's ill accustomed to people swarming around a crime scene,  like pestilent flies eager to scope out their next meal,  but because she looks so nonchalant about it.  so unbothered,  dark eyes scanning the immediate area with veiled interest.  new as he is to the city,  he's vaguely aware of her notoriety in its streets,  and been warned on several occasions not to get involved.  

ㅤwell,  that's not how he operates.  a lead is a lead,  no matter its source. 

ㅤhe'd instructed the officers to sanction off the area,  hang tape and cover the body ( which,  to him,  looks less like a killing and more like an execution )  before sending them scurrying amidst the streets like roaches after crumbs.  a quick once - over of the corpse leaves him with more questions than answers. 

ㅤ“  you look like you've got some thoughts about all this.  ”   he affords her a sidelong glance as his hands find their way into his jacket pockets,  idly fondling the bottle of caffeine pills within. ㅤ

ㅤhappy sunday. wick is not a particularly sexual man; he's simply not wired that way. it never has been and never will be a priority for him. that being said, he's most likely to seek gratification while inebriated, and only with people who've earned his trust.

ㅤalso, despite his rough and brash personality, he prefers to take the more submissive role in the bedroom. he enjoys relinquishing control, if only for a while. he's a very giving lover, though, so if his partner requests it, he'll top. good with his hands, even better with... well. you know.
