i am just so obsessed with the fact that buffy’s story is one of the very very few superhero narratives that doesn’t end by reasserting the status quo. “chosen” isn’t just about saving the world. it’s about changing the world. like you can just do that. you can tell that story. the people who have recognized that a system is unjust and actively seek to change that system aren’t the bad guys who have a point but they’re just too radical. they’re our heroes and they’re right and they succeed. i think about this every day.
