hello, could anyone guide me to books, articles, papers etc. that detail unbiased accounts of indian administration of kashmir since 1947?

i do not like the normal people tv show … bad vibes

#this is my well thought out critical analysis #i just cannot see it from the lens that other people on the internet talking about it do #it does not even slightly come off as this grand slowburn romance or wtv to me #it just makes me annoyed #i think i dont like much of the acting and the direction choices and the general tone of the show #there’s parts where i do like the writing which tracks because i did enjoy the book #i dont think the tone of the show betrays the tone of the book though #so either my taste has changed and i wouldnt like the book if i read it now #or they just adapted it poorly #or something about the book’s tone doesnt lend itself well to a tv adaptation #i have stopped watching after episode 5 i hate it 👎👎👎#okay i am open to correction if i have interpreted this wrong #but this is supposed to be this great romance of how they always find their way back to each other #and they secretly love each other and sometimes they admit it but sometimes they don't #and so the show is always going to centre events through that perspective #but now because they dont find their way to each other until the very end (and even then only somewhat)#it means that every other experience of their life that we see is just seen as ‘incomplete’#okay like ???????#everything just comes off as so fucking miserable #you’re just waiting and waiting and waiting for them to love each other and also for them to love each other the Exact Right Way #and im just like WHY WHYYYY is that this grand payoff that im supposed to be waiting for #why can it just not also SINCERELY be about their life in the meantime #like why is everything else this ‘waiting period’ for the ‘inevitable’#it just makes the show SO SOOOO agonisingly miserable to watch #and the acting and the mood and the writing to some extent is just doing an exaggerated version of this #IM SO IRRITATED IT MAKES ME SO MAD GAAAAAAAAAAAAH #we’re supposed to think ok the only real people in this show are the two main leads and nobody else is really a Person even so dont bother #its so fkn lazyyyyyyyyy #i think all of this got spurred off the moment where marianne’s boyfriend at the time says she has a really cute serious face or smth #and daisy edgar jones just looks up and then looks down

#i genuinely was thinking this exact thing not two weeks ago #specifically i was thinking of #it is nice to feel wanted and also to want #but caring and desiring mean you put yourself in a position where you give another person the ability to really really hurt you #and i was thinking #is the desire the problem then - is it the thing i have to eliminate?#if it hurts when i dont get what i want does that mean i have to stop wanting in the first place #if i didnt form attachments i wouldnt feel pettiness or jealousy or hurt #so do i just try to remove all sense of attachment #idk if that makes sense #anyway i couldnt figure it out #so i kind of just said ‘life is all about taking chances’ even if i dont really believe in it #idk if that makes sense either

i have watched significantly fewer movies this year so far. i do miss talking about movies though. i miss free film screenings at IHC and walking around jor bagh after with friends, smoking 10 rupay ki indie mint. i miss meeting up in that one dude's basement (lol), huddled together on mattresses and watching monsoon wedding with strangers. i miss the occasional post-screening q&as with the director and the inevitably silly questions asked at them. movies are where i found my space in college for the very first time, where i met my now best friends, all the people that i adore the most in the world. it's also the space where i found a core sense of my identity. i think i really wanted to find a film-y space here, and i did start off trying hard, but somehow gave up over time. it's a bit hard to think about how something that was such an important fixture of my life barely 2 years ago has now become nearly absent from it. it's not too bad though, my interests tend to have a habit of rotating out cyclically anyway. i'm sure i'll find my way back to it again.

#i watched darjeeling limited for the first time today #i dont think i have ever seen a wes anderson before this #it was quite nice #i also watched didi #also quite nice #maybe i will have something more poignant to say once i get back into talking about movies #also darjeeling limited gave me an insane urge to smoke a cigarette #im not going to do it but that's partly what triggered the nostalgia trip #smoking is bad though booooo #i know i would regret it as soon as i did it and there really is no glamour attached to it for me anymore #i guess i miss that time in life more than the actual action of smoking #they should make a tobacco-free healthy indie mint that is also 10 rupees #though i heard indie mint is 12? rupees now #dire times
