He took his time to observe the girl’s subtlest shifts in expression, & somehow she seemed…lonely; like she didn’t quite have someone so close to her like he was with the feline he’d come to love.
“She is important to me,” he reiterated, with a soft sigh at the end, “she was always there for me…even though sometimes she does seem reluctant, like she’s one fine lady who’s got other places to be.”
He couldn’t help but laugh at that, for cats often had that sort of noble air around them; haughty, but graceful.
“Thank you,” beaming up at her, he added kindly, “& of course, I hope you’ll have someone like that in your life too, kid.”
「 🌺 」 She couldn’t say she understood the notion. Someone in her life who was important and wouldn’t leave her, someone always there for her? Perhaps, if anything, that’d be an animal sooner than an actual human, but either way, it didn’t seem too likely. At least she couldn’t eat other animals though, so they’d be safe from her defect.
“Thank you very much, sir.” He seemed like he noticed something she didn’t, which made her curious. Tilting her head, she lifted up a hand to poke at her own cheek. “Is there something on my face?”
It didn’t feel like there was, but he’d been watching her rather closely. Perhaps she simply hadn’t noticed.
