He didn’t really know how to feel about it. Sure, he did sat beside her, but some people wouldn’t even care about it. “Rough day soundslike an understatement.” It was more like a rough everything in the current situation.
“Oh,” she didn’t really know what to say in the situation, so she offered him an awkward pat on the shoulder. “Need to talk?”
“Oh, uh…yeah, absolutely, be my guest.” He ran a hand through his hair, making a face and laughing modestly. “I’m not totally put together since there were no classes today, but if that’s not a problem, you’re more than welcome to do what you need.” Leaning on his elbows against the desk, he offered her a smile, just glad for a distraction from the tedium. “Mind if I ask what the project is?”
Penelope started moving around and snapping a few photos of the classroom as he spoke. “Don’t worry you look fine,” she said simply, focusing the camera on him. After a moment she pulled the lens off, capped it, and put it back in her bag before picking out a better one for portraits. “Uhh yeah,” she mumbled as she locked the other lens into place, “it’s about the cycle of the education system. Basically I’m just layering different photos from throughout the school year.” She pulled her camera up and began to refocus it on him.
Wanting a peaceful walk, they had a book in their hand and were passing by the park, thinking it would be a good place to stay underneath a shady tree and read. However, while wandering, they accidentally bumped into someone and let out a ‘sorry’ in a mumble before showing a small smile. “No, no. Don’t worry about it. I should have been more careful to where I was going.”
Penny smiled in response, “it’s totally fine.” She looked down an noticed their book, “what are you reading?” she asked.
while on a simple walk during his free time between classes, he spotted a brunette sitting on a bench. she was just … staring into space though. with furrowed eyebrows, jae approached her with curiosity and tried to find what she was looking at. but when she slightly gasped, it caught him off guard, nearly making him fall off the bench. “ shit – sorry to scare you; i’m just wondering what you’re staring at that has you so INTRIGUED. ”
Penny smiled as he nearly tumbled off the bench, “It’s totally fine.” Penelope returned her gaze to the view before her, ”just... that” she sighed as she pointed to the view before them. “t’s just so...” her words trailed off as she was enchanted by the sight again.
Willow was one of the lucky people who had decided not to attend the school’s carnival, she missed out on all the chaos and tragedy, and honestly she was glad she did. She had enough of that in her life, and she really didn’t want any more of it. She was making her way around the woods near the school, following the trail and taking pictures for her portfolio for her photography class. She tended to get lost in her thoughts, not really paying attention to what she was doing or who she was near until she heard a familiar voice. She jumped just a little, glancing down and spotting the girl at the bench, letting out a nervous laugh, “Oh Penny hi,” She muttered as she lowered her camera, “Are you taking pictures for class too?” She was curious and also worried, she didn’t want to steal Penny’s idea if she had already had it, but she didn’t notice the girl didn’t have her camera, “I can leave you alone if you want, I’m just… trying to find the perfect picture.”
A smile made its way across Penelopes face when she recognized the voice besides her, “Hello willow,” she said sweetly. “Did you get any good picture? she motioned to the camera, “I was going to bring mine too but I decide against the extra weight talk about a mistake,” she sighed. “You’re welcome to stay if you want,“ Penelope slid down the bench to make room, “I found a beautiful picture here, you should take it,” she smiled in an attempt to make the girl feel comfortable. Willow seemed interesting, but also a bit shy. Penny was interested in seeing what she was really thinking.
Tugging her cigarette from her mouth like it was a cork keeping something unholy from spilling out, Bradley shifted to give her a brief glance. “Probably the army jacket. I’m practically invisible.” Flipping a clump of hot ash onto the space between them, Bradley made an effort to stretch obnoxiously – her cigarette dangling dangerously close to Penny’s cheek in the sprawl. “What are you thinking about, anyway? Your face was kind of…” Trailing off, Bradley furrowed her brow in mimic. “You look like you need a laxative.”
Penelope sighed at the stranger. The cigarette smell was tainting the once peaceful stillness in the air, and while Penny didn’t have any personal space issues a burning stick less than an inch from her face was a bit much. The laxative comment was funny, but solitude was definitely calling.”Oh I was just thinking about how some cigarette day-dream cliche would make this view so much better.,” she sighed, “and then you showed up” a smile slid across Penelope’s lips,”it must be my lucky day!”
On his familiar path, Levi jogged along and enjoyed the nice weather. He tried to run outside whenever he could but there were some days that were just too hot. Today was perfect. He kept going until he reached his halfway point, slowing to a stop and catching his breath. That was when he noticed someone else was there. “You’re good,” Levi said with a laugh. “Not used to seeing people out this way.”
Penelope turned to give her attention to the stranger who appeared near her. She noted his heavy breathing, assuming he must be a runner.Funny, she thought to herself.”Me either,” she responded, “Well I’’m not used to seeing runners this way, mostly just old people with dogs.” Penelope turned back to look at the beautiful view from before, “I guess on days like this everyone’s out.”
Taking a stroll alone was the best thing he could find to get the taste of the cigarette out of his mouth. While he had to try it out, he wasn’t entirely sure it was something he liked, and needed some fresh air for a change. He didn’t really expect to find someone else, nor did he expect to be the one to come forth to someone else. But there he was, walking towards her and taking a seat. Maybe he could blame it on his sudden urge to try new things. “It’s good. No one really notices me anyway.”
The boys words were a bit surprising to Penelope. “Well, I noticed” she said with a sympathetic smile. “Having a rough day?” She asked, giving him her full attention.
Penelope sat peacefully on a beach over viewing a beautiful forest below. She had decided to take a walk without her camera for once, she felt she didn’t need to extra weight when she rarely found a picture worth taking while on her strolls. Yet here she is, staring at what would have been a perfect shot. Time went by without her realizing, and out of no where she found someone by her side. She hitched her breath at the sudden realization of her presence. “Oh I’m sorry” she chuckled, “didn’t see ya there.”
“God, I am never, ever going to put drugstore makeup near my face. Do you see her skin?”
“What’s weird about it?”
Noah had a terrible habit of putting off grading, similarly to the way he’d always put off doing homework. Being that it was a summer course, he was that much more lethargic about it. It had become necessary to stay after class and mark the papers at his desk in order to force himself through it, and he was deep into a lengthy essay when someone came into the classroom. “You’re here late,” he commented offhandedly, knowing full well the lethargy was evident in his drab tone. “I’m gonna punch the whiteboard if I’m here much longer myself. This is what happens when you assign too much work in the summer.” He sighed and dropped his pen, leaning back in the chair. “What’d you need?”
The desolate hallways echoed with Penelope’s footsteps as she made her way down the hall. With camera in hand she took shots of doorways and classrooms that were once filled with laughter and learning. She focused her camera at the white board which was still stained with ink from lessons in the past. snap. The piece she was working on now encapsulated the cycle of education, it was almost finished but she just needed some shots of the empty school. So she continued to search for the image in her heard. After a few more shots she stumbled into a lit classroom, and hesitantly walked inside. There she saw a man hunched over his desk, looking bored and exhausted. His tone only went to prove her original thought. “I’m just working on a project,” she tried to sound professional as she motioned to her camera. “Do you mind if I take a few pictures of you and your classroom?”
