Don’t keep your quaestor waiting…

As agents of the Oculus of her Truth, quaestors represent the inquisitorial wing of the Equestrian judicial system. They make sure all legal proceedings are done correctly, checking in on both the litigant’s and defender’s side in a case. They follow up with witness statements, recheck evidence or even investigate further for the court. In cases of the state litigant, they are the judge’s representatives. They might even represent the defense when matters are much too serious or sensitive for the general advocacy, thus making those cases fully inquisitorial as opposed to adversarial.

It is said that the quaestor’s role in public life extends far beyond the court, that the Oculus sends their agents on information gathering missions outside of any given case. Or that the Oculus might be building cases against the public before handing these off to a relevant deputized authority. Even worse, some say that quaestors don’t always wear their purposefully loud attire when on duty, instead walking among us in everyday clothes. Agents of the hidden Oculus, a much larger entity watching an Equestrian’s every move with the help of vast networks of informants...

But those are only rumors, and near blasphemous ones at that. Her Radiance, the Princess, would never allow such flagrant abuse of her subjects!

Some Appleloosan rebel scouts I drew a good while ago. They wish to rid themselves of their dragon overlords and rejoin Equestria proper. The rebels operate around the hinterlands between the capital and Luna's Favor in the north, using the karst topography to hide their operations.

They are considered raiders by the locals in the Favor, as their usual freedom fighting modus operandi boils down to stealing herds of sheep and cattle and murdering those that try to stop them.

The Vicerine in Appleloosa has let their activity continue due to them not being a significant threat. To their southern eyes it's just northerners killing northerners, which is a solution on to itself.

Fern Sprout is a young mare from a very humble background. A riverpony from the Farflair lands up in the North March, Fern is nothing more than a commoner. She grew up timid and quiet, being the youngest with nine older siblings. She spent her youth making friends with frogs and fishes and helping out with the river-weed fields her parents looked over.

But this peaceful life was not enough for this foal, she dreamed to see the world and step outside of the rural confines of her status. Thus she was inducted as an acolyte into the Order of the Cloak, an organization that sees to the protection and care of pilgrims.

The goal of this shift was to travel Equestria and see its wonders, but now Fern finds herself banished from her order but in the possession of a non-trivial amount of gold. Fern has also found that she has a knack for sneaking around and dealing with knives.

Is it time for a new, more rogueish adventure? The young mare has a big decision to make...

Sanni is a supposed slave translator in service to a claimant to the throne of the Principate. Accompanied by two dragons, she travels the war-torn country to proclaim the legitimacy of her master. She has quite the presence for her diminutive size and has been vital in securing alliances and favourable treaties for her Prince.

She is fond of coffee and sleeping on large soft pillows.

Rupanna Minapirra.

A prospective fire mage full of determination that climbed to the highest echalons of the Dragon Army, Panna was known for her thoroughness when it came to following orders.

And yet all her success yielded nothing in the way of fullfilment for the unicorn. By the end her deeds amounted to only ash and bone and regret.

Panna has since renounced her post and made new friends. They have offered her a new perspective on things, which has helped her come to terms with her past and look on the future. She hopes one day to atone for her sins, though she fears she might never get the chance.

North Star Nightsky, leader of the Free Company. A bastard by birth famed for being the best pony with a sword in Equestria, she has won countless tourneys in her brilliant crimson armor and starry cape.

North Star is surrounded by subordinates and acquaintances. An isolated figure with all but no friends. Her living family members are not on speaking terms with her, either due to the circumstances of her birth or the event that gave the pegasus her scars.

When not being the leader of Her Radiance's Company, she is said to visit her distant cousins up in the highlands to enjoy Upland wines and cripst mountain air.

Here are some lawyers, aka. "advocates", from my setting.

The ones with bees on their pins are litigators whilst the ones with the cloud and thunderbolt are defence advocates.

They also get a funny hat that is a symbol of them having attained the right to advocacy.
