Animal Hospital has been very fun. Autism got me. Made OCS.
The first is Jake. He's the grumpy security guard who helps vet the patients for anomalies. He's also deployed to neutralize any threats.
Even though he's very gruff and may seem intimidating, Jake does have a good heart as he tends to be gentle when needed. He's also commonly exhausted from being overworked and underpaid by Harlow. He may not seem like it, but he does care for his fellow staff members.
The next is Nurse SwellHeart. She's an anomaly that is unusually good at hiding her features from regular cameras. However, UV cameras can catch her real flaws. Swellheart isn't an active danger, though, as she holds herself back from attacking staff and patients. She actually likes everyone she works with, and is eager to help make patients feel better, even if their ailments seem absolutely ridiculous for an ER. To keep herself sane, she snacks a LOT more than everyone else, and may even steal an unused organ or two. She also has a special ability to sense the presence of other anomalies, and will alert Jake to come handle them for her. If she herself gets attacked, she will try to lure them to somewhere where the cameras cannot see and devour the threat.
Of course, Swellheart also despises cameras and is aware of their locations at all times. She tries to make that not too obvious. She also just has an extremely off-putting demeanor and personality, which both Jake and Buckthorne see as her "quirks".
(Also do note that Swellheart is a sheep! Her nose shape is an anomalous trait!)
The next is Dr. Buckthorne. He's the main surgeon and also doctor of the place. Determined to cure all patients that are under his care, Buckthorne works tirelessly to combat against the anomalous transformations he sees and is searching for a direct cause. Little does he know that he is secretly carrying out Harlow's experiments, and the patient seems to return to the hospital even sicker than when they had left the first time. Still, Buckthorne wants to get to the bottom of this mess, yet still has far too much trust in the Medical Director.
Finally, we have Floyd, a brand new hire currently interning to replace the previous secretary. Floyd is very anxious when placed into a new environment with new people they don't know all that well. Though, their enthusiasm while checking in patients remains high, bringing a smile to even the security guard's face. However, Floyd too has noticed patients becoming more and more sick as they keep returning to the hospital, and they've caught wind of the rumors that have spread about how scared they are of this place. Floyd thinks Harlow is acting strange regarding the anomaly epidemic, but feels too terrified to actually confront him in fear of losing their first ever job. Floyd looks up to Jake, as the is showing them the ropes of what the reception desk does. Floyd admires Buckthorne, but can't help but feel uneasy around Swellheart.
Anyway yeah, since the hospital is so understaffed, everyone works together to treat patients and subdue threats when the ambulances arrive. All hands on deck!
