Hand Embroidered Roses by Sophie King
British hand embroidery and textile artist, Sophie King, has created a series of hand-sewn messages on roses. King explores embroidery as a medium to make powerful statements about herself, women and love. Her pieces blur ‘the traditional boundaries between craft and art’.

Art Prints and Planners and Calendars by Katie Daisy on Etsy
Spoiling your girl doesn’t mean you need to constantly spend hundreds of dollars on her. It doesn’t mean you need to buy her the top of the line technology or clothes or concert tickets. It doesn’t mean you have to pay for fancy vacations for the two of you. Spoiling your girl can be as easy as picking flowers for her while you take a walk or leaving her a note about how much you adore her. It can be waking up a little early to make her breakfast in bed or rubbing her feet after she’s been at work all day. It can be spending a day watching her favorite movies or letting her pick all the songs during a car ride. Spoiling your girl doesn’t have to be with money but with love
Bill Nye understands why climate change denial exists but he has a message for anyone who thinks that way.

Paradoxes of Life
From here
1. The more you hate a trait in someone else, the more likely you are avoiding it in yourself. Carl Jung believed that characteristics in others that bother us are reflections of the parts of ourselves that we deny. Freud referred to it as “projection.” Most people call it “being an asshole.” For example, the woman who is insecure about her weight will call everyone else fat. The man who’s insecure about his money will criticize others for theirs.
2. People who can’t trust, can’t be trusted. People who are chronically insecure in their relationships are more likely to sabotage them. Call it the Good Will Hunting syndrome, but one way people protect themselves from getting hurt is by hurting others first.
3. The more you try to impress people, the less impressed they’ll be. Nobody likes a try-hard.
4. The more you fail, the more likely you are to succeed. Insert inspirational famous person quote here. You’ve probably heard many of them. Edison tried over 10,000 prototypes before getting the lightbulb right. Michael Jordan got cut from his high school team. Success comes from improvement and improvement comes from failure. There’s no shortcut around it.

Where did we park, Peter Lippman
Sweden's deputy PM is causing a stir after posting an image appearing to parody Donald Trump's signing of an anti-abortion executive order.
“Isabella Lovin, who is also the country’s climate minister, published a photo that shows her signing a new law surrounded by female colleagues.
The image has drawn comparisons with Mr Trump’s photo in which no women were present.
Within hours the post was shared and liked thousands of times on Facebook.
Facebook user Kimini Delfos said in a post that such an image should not spark the reaction that it has, suggesting that people “calm down”.
“Why is it so difficult to see a picture with just women and not difficult to see a picture with only men?” she questioned.
The Swedish government, which claims to be “the first feminist government in the world”, has also issued a statement affirming that gender equality is “central” to its priorities.
“Gender equality is also part of the solution to society’s challenges and a matter of course in a modern welfare state - for justice and economic development,” the statement reads.

The Trump administration is delaying listing this bumblebee as officially endangered
Last month, the rusty patched bumblebee became the very first species of bees in the continental U.S. to be officially marked as “endangered” by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
According to the Associated Press, the new designation was scheduled to go into effect on Friday, until the Trump administration delayed the move one day before.
The federal government announced the delay, which is in compliance with an order signed by Trump in January.
The regulation that would add the rusty patched bumblebee to the endangered species list, guaranteeing it federal protection, will be postponed until March 21.
According to the White House this will allow time for “reviewing questions of fact, law and policy they raise.” Read more (2/9/17 3:06 PM)
