At the beginning of August 2018, ELM will be hosting a RPvE campaign to bring to life the war in Kourna.

Our previous campaign was in the Crystal Oasis. It was a successful and fun weekend. But this time we’re looking to expand the campaign beyond two days.

If you’re interested in co-hosting or leading an event or activity related to the war effort, let me know ASAP so we can begin planning this series of events.

We’re also seeking foes in the Mordant Crescent, Awakened, and Joko loyalists.

There will also be room for guilds and characters who are not listed above to participate: mercenaries, medics, supply, aid workers, etc.

I’d be terribly disappointed if you folk didn’t recognise what this is meant to be! But I introduce Turai Tavern/ The Sun. I obviously took some liberties with adding a pool and mostly the top floor being bathrooms and such to make the build playable with a household. And the rooms I made are not quite as inconvenient as the ingame versions.

But all in all, the structure and bar itself as well as the basement. I think I NAILED it. I’m quite proud of this one.

Thief: Saul Cobb has stolen something expensive from Cat and is trying to get away.

It had been a long day.

Cat slipped her key into the lock of her cabin aboardHalcyon, intent on changing out of the sweat-stained clothes she’d worn whilespending the day aloft in the ship’s rigging. It had been a quick trip, justout to Southsun with a delivery of rum she got from a high-end supplier out ofBloodtide Coast, but she was tired nonetheless. Once the ship had made port,she’d left immediately to handle some business in the Trader’s Forum. Theshipment that was supposed to be loaded on when they arrived wasn’t waiting forthem at the docks, which meant that someone had fucked up somewhere, and shewas certain it wasn’t her. It had taken the better part of two hours to findwho she was looking for, reiterate the agreement, and arrange for a newdrop-off time. There was a headache lurking just behind her eyes, and hermuscles were clamoring for rest. She almost didn’t notice when the key slippedeasily from one side of the lock to the other, without the telltale click ofthe bolt coming free. Almost.

She stood there a long moment, brow furrowed as she turnedto survey her crew. They were going on about their business, getting the shiptidied up to wait for the next voyage out, cursing and joking and making plansfor their night in port. She turned back to the carved double teak doors, andstooped to draw a dagger from her boot, turning the handle and pushing one ofthe doors open.

She stepped into the dimness, and a quick look about thecabin gave the appearance of normalcy. Her bed was rumpled from the nightbefore – she’d never been good about making it up – and the scent of incenselingered. The varied colorful and patterned lamps that hung from the ceilingwere dark; George hadn’t been in yet to light them for her. He was probablyalready off playing with his friends along the docks, causing trouble as shehad when she was his age.

There was no one there, at least. More carefully, she movedabout the interior, searching for signs of intrusion. And there, she found it –her jewelry box had been broken open. She cursed, and bent down to put thedagger away, moving closer to the box, its mother-of-pearl inlaid lid gapingopen. She wondered briefly why the thief hadn’t just taken the whole box – it wasvaluable in and of itself.

The thief had been selective. Her jewelry was, as far as shecould tell, present and accounted for. The only thing missing was the mostexpensive item by far – the 25-carat sapphire she’d recently acquired from theElonian immigrant, Salm Shahzad. She cursed again, and raised the heels of herhands to press into her eyes. The headache was thumping in full force, now. Thesapphire had cost a fortune, and she’d been keeping it close to remind herselfof her need to find a buyer. She could have kicked herself for the foolishchoice, though in her own defense, her cabin had always been safe up to thispoint.

She whirled and stalked back out to the deck, callingsharply for her crew to form up. They obeyed, drifting from their work into acrowd near her cabin as the word spread across the decks and up into therigging. She climbed to stand atop a barrel to be seen by all, and asked whohad been on watch duty for the first dog watch. After a moment, four sailorsshouldered through the crowd to stand at the front. Three of themstraightforwardly met her gaze, but the last one, younger than the others, waslooking at his boots. She kept an eye on him as she asked if they’d seenanything suspicious, and still looking down, he shook his head while the otherthree answered her aloud in a chorus of “No, ma’am,” “No, Cap’n,” and “It’sbeen quiet today, Cap’n.”

“You – Higgs, is it?” She hopped down off the barrel to thepolished deck and strode to stand in front of the young man, her voice low anddangerous. “I’ll have the truth from you, or by the gods, when I find it out onmy own, it will go much worse for you. And I will find out.”

“I thought he was on your orders, Cap’n,” Higgs blurted. Amurmur of apprehension ran through the crew – this didn’t sound good. “He cameaboard like he knew what he was about, an’ let himself in as casual as youplease. Weren’t no funny business; I thought perhaps you’d given him a key.”

“A man boarded my ship, not a member of this crew, an’ you let him passunchallenged?” she inquired incredulously.

“He used t’ be though, Cap’n, though I can’t remember hisname.” Higgs was distressed, his brow beaded with sweat.

“Used t’ be? What did he look like, then?” she askedsharply.

“Close-cropped hair, real wiry… Older, he looked, in hislate forties, maybe?” he answered, desperate to please after the fact of hismistake.

Her dark brows beetled as she mulled over the description,coming to her conclusion with a flush of fury. “Cobb, was it? Saul Cobb?”

“That’s him, Cap’n,” Higgs answered triumphantly. “The verysame. I thought, since he used t’ work for you, then maybe –”

“Shut up, Higgs,” she snapped, and he winced. “Get yourthings an’ get off my ship. I’ll suffer no fool that I can’t trust t’ even havethe barest instinct o’ common sense. Count yourself lucky that I don’t have youflogged.” His shoulders slumped, he turned to head for the hold, the crewparting before him, their disapproval apparent. Insults and jeers flew as hemoved through the crowd, and Cat raised her voice again. “No ration o’ rum forthe next week!” A groan rose from the crew, and she shouted above it, “You lotmay not have been on watch, but you’ve got eyes, an’ not a one o’ you stoppedCobb from doing just as he pleased in my absence. Let this be a lesson t’ you –the integrity o’ this ship is every member o’ the crew’s responsibility!”

She spun on her heel and stalked back into her cabin,pulling down a leather coat to throw over the lighter gear she wore in therigging. She could think of a few places that Saul might be, and she wasbanking on the fact that he wouldn’t be able to sell the sapphire very quickly,if he was seeking its full value. Finding a buyer for such a treasure wouldtake some time… Unless someone knew of her purchase and had hired him toacquire it for them. Thrice-cursed son of a poxy whore, she thought venomously,and after locking her cabin behind her and trying not to think of how easily he’dgotten in, she charged down the gangplank and off into the evening. Sheintended to search every rum-sink and opium den of the city until she found theman and got back what was hers.
