Kuramerukagari × Durarara!! Crossover AMV
i've been thinking about metaltango a lot lately, and what it is that draws me into that ship. in my experience a lot of people divide into two camps, very roughly the "Krauser was super nice but then went bad" and the "Krauser was always an abusive dick". which, each to their own!
personally though i like it when he's more complicated than that. to me, he starts out as a good guy, but with issues. he's not a perfect boyfriend who brings Leon breakfast in bed, but he's also not entirely violent and unhinged. he's rough around the edges, unable to talk feelings or show them much, but cares in his own gruff way. he's a bit too rough, a bit too impulsive, a bit too selfish. he definitely has anger issues. but he's also the kind of support Leon hasn't had before and would kill to save him in a heartbeat.
I enjoy it when things are complicated, when the relationship is both so bad for them and so good for them. it gives them both what they need while at the same time destroying parts of them. it gives Leon the chance to make (potentially bad) decisions about his life when all the other choices have been taken away, gives him the chance to feel something, anything. it gives Krauser companionship, someone who can match him beat for beat, someone who has an undying fire inside of him (and Krauser is a moth to that flame).
they'd burn bright and fast and it's probably always bound to end in a disaster. they'd both fall into it headfirst, damn the consequences, and end up hurt as hell for it.
this is also why I am so attached to the original versions of them because they're comrades, they're equals, they're two sides of the same coin and they are forever joined even when they're apart. they're evenly matched, even though Krauser likes to think he's in charge and Leon likes to let him.
...of course until they're on the opposite sides, when things shift. maybe it's the plaga slowly driving Krauser more unhinged, feeding his anger issues, or maybe it's simply the bitterness and resentment from how he was discarded after the injury. but something shifts. he lets the uglier sides to the surface more. even then it's fun to play with the idea that he'd hesitate before killing Leon, would regret doing so, but he's definitely a changed man on many levels.
Krauser has always been one of my favorites exactly for the complexity. he contains multitudes.
(and the necessary disclaimer: I'm not trying to tell anyone how to write him or see him! this is just my incoherent word vomit about the topic lol. and I sure as hell have also written things where he's shifted towards either extreme more just because sometimes it's fun :3)
I think I am officially Fandom Old. I am so worn out from the arguments on who's the top or the bottom (who cares), what is allowed to be written (anything you want, bejeebus), what is Problematic (I know, just tag it), what other people Should Do (they Should live their lives free of judgment). There isn't a Right Way to do things. Tag your stuff appropriately, don't read stuff you don't want to read, and leave other people (me) alone.
There is nothing quite like the freedom of having gone through all of the Discourse and come out the other side into the promised land of Not Giving A Fuck.
The three keys to the promised land are “Block, Unfollow, and Do Not Engage”
How it feels to have curated your space in fandom
Remembering how in the sequel books when Shizuo is wondering about his future, Tom immediately thinks if there was anyone complementary for Shizuo to work with, Shizuo and Izaya would make perfect (work) partners and then has to remind himself not to say this out loud or Shizuo would be upset. Only the most rational character in the series thinking they’d be good together
Yearning~
The hints of Izaya’s home life in middle school, that he’d prefer to come to school during summer vacation because what waits at home is neglectful, inattentive parents and his four year old twin sisters he takes care of…of course, when he enters high school and Shizuo shows him undivided and intense attention for the first time in Izaya’s life, he’ll play any type of nasty trick to keep that attention
Manifesting an Operation Javier remake WITHHH their stupid-ass Hawaii-5-0 (Detective) alt costumes. If Leon's not in the most horrendous looking skinny jeans, paris hilton sunglasses, and orange shirt I don't want it.
i have returned once more yet again with another metaltango edit. also learned that jim ward passed away earlier december, rip man nothing can replace og krauser’s voice
Shinra Kishitani and his hideous shirt
BABIES FIRST YAOI……
you dont get it i love that izaya is so hated by everyone and that he acknowledges people have reasons to hate him but he also resents being unloved but refuses to change this about himself i love that he holds a grudge against shizuo for being so loved i need izaya to actively make everyone’s life worse out of this misguided grudge i love when he’s a toxic bitch like this 🧎♀️➡️🧎♀️➡️🧎♀️➡️
Someone (Densuke Sozoro actually): It's a good thing Izaya never found an individual he loved and loves all of humanity instead. If someone like him was in love, he'd destroy anything to make sure that person loved him.
Shinra: *exists and is willing to do exactly that*
-
Anri: I can't cut Izaya Orihara! He'd be a selfish monster with Saika and would cause all kinds of chaos.
Takashi Nasujima: *was cut by Haruna Niekawa and therefore received Saika's power, and ended up being one of the biggest problems in the whole series*
-
Celty: Shizuo, it's a good thing you weren't friends with Izaya. He would have just used you to get what he wanted.
Shizuo: *is used by Shinra to get what he wanted causes Celty's head to get cut off again*
-
Masaomi: Mikado, don't you realize Izaya has just been using you this whole time?
Aoba: *appears to Mikado and uses him the entire time (albeit Mikado being perfectly aware of this)*
-
Shizuo: Any time some random violent crap happens you're [Izaya] somehow involved.
Shizuo: *causes random violent crap*
-
Anyway,,,
I'd say at least 75% of the shit that goes down in Ikebukuro (and to a lesser extent Shinjuku) is not at all Izaya's fault. He just knows about it because he knows who to keep an eye on. Sure sometimes he nudges people along and instigates, but none of it would actually go anywhere if everyone else wasn't also, for lack of a better description, absolutely bat shit insane.
Example: Shinra did plastic surgery on a girl who stalked and broke into a guy's house and saw a head in a jar that the guy was obsessed with. Shinra is in love with the owner of the head, Celty, and the girl wants her beloved to think her original head was replaced with Celty's because that's obviously how that works. Izaya is keeping an eye on things by being friends with Shinra and also employing the guy's sister (who has some fucked up incest thing going on) but he never actually CAUSED any of that. They did it on their own.
I find it very similar to how the whole "Dollars colour gang" concept is protrayed. It's described and played up as a gang with no real leader, but you know what it looks like to me? With the whole website forum, ordinary people being involved, no actual leadership or real chain of command? Personal username and password to log in? It's a social media site. It's like reddit. And to me it seems that's what Izaya is like, story-wise. Everyone thinks he's some big secret manipulator, when he really just says a couple smartass comments and then sits back to watch the city implode completely on its own because it is populated by people with absolutely no chill.
Edit: I completely forgot to mention that the guy thinks the girl's head was replaced because he ATTACKED AND ALMOST KILLED HER after she broke into his home and then sat in front of Celty's head eating food in a room covered in blood splatter and (what he thought was) a whole ass corpse. Izaya had nothing to do with that. Everyone in Ikebukuro is off the rails.
Me, trying to explain my OTP : and so they can’t stand to be apart, that's why Shizuo is always chasing Izaya and why Izaya always comes back and-
My boyfriend : So you're just shipping Tom and Jerry
Me : -_-
