audiences have no idea how to be uncomfortable anymore
watch movies that make you uncomfortable read books that make you uncomfortable go to plays that make you uncomfortable watch tv that makes you uncomfortable look at paintings and sculpture and artwork that makes you uncomfortable. it is spiritually and morally and ethically and artistically really really good for you. think about why you are uncomfortable. what biases do you bring to art? what biases does the art bring to you? how do you reconcile this? how does your worldview grow and expand and change? all this and more will be answered and available to you if you just engage with art that does not coddle you and treats you like an intelligent human being that can sit through discomfort

The KIDS Act received broad bipartisan support. But the legislation is expected to face challenges in the Senate.
This is a worse version of KOSA.
The KIDS Act, which contains provisions previously found in the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), could silence online speech and jeopardize us
DO NOT TRUST DEMOCRATS ON THIS ONE!!!
If you can’t safely contact them in person, here are some other options for contacting your Senators:

The KIDS Act, ostensibly aimed at protecting children, will raise the risk for journalists, dissidents, and whistleblowers.
Last week, the House voted on the KIDS Act, a disjointed package of legislation that seeks to control Americans’ web browsing and private me
thinking of a thing where sam mentions to cas that dean will do almost anything cas tells him to do and cas thinks that's ridiculous and starts putting it to the test and cannot believe what he's getting away with (like driving baby around and getting dean's fries and dean kneeling down to tie cas's shoe for starters-which leads to dean miraculously drinking water and going to bed a little earlier and having a couple less drinks just cause cas gave him dom brow and didn't say please, even sam is astounded and all "you just...you just told him to...and he did it. the fuck.")
cut to dean in a better mood than he usually ever is following cas around asking if there's anything else he can do lol.
(he doesn't tell sam about the part where dean was rewarded for following all those instructions)
Well, I started writing it so we'll see. Excerpt below!
"I spilled a cup of tea on my bedspread," Cas said.
“Since when are you drinkin’ tea?”
“I’ve become accustomed to the taste, but I believe I enjoy the ritual of making it more than anything,” Cas said. “Will you launder my bedspread?”
“You don’t sleep,” Dean said, as if Cas may have forgotten.
“No… But I do sit on the bed. I even lie down occasionally. The tea stain is unsightly.” Cas narrowed his eyes. “You are the person who provided me with a bed and bed linens.”
“And you can’t do laundry because...?”
“I dislike doing laundry.” Cas pursed his lips, refusing to elaborate.
The truth was that Cas didn’t dislike doing his own laundry as much as he liked watching Dean do his laundry. This had come up a few times recently when, after a particularly messy hunt, Dean had offered to launder Cas’s clothes instead of letting him spend his waning grace on cleaning them himself. Cas had twice watched Dean gently handwash his coat and then iron it once it was dry. He had experienced a specific and highly pleasant feeling watching him do it, not just because Dean was doing him a favor without complaint, but because of how carefully Dean had treated the trenchcoat in particular: as well as he treated his car, Cas had thought.
“Alright fine, prima donna,” Dean muttered, and got to his feet. “I better get to it before the stain sets, I guess.”
“Use the unscented detergent,” Cas said. “The scented is cloying.” “Right right.”
“And put it on my bed while it’s still warm from the dryer,” Cas said.
Dean bumped Cas’s shoulder with his own on his way out, a playful little jostle, and murmured, “Didn’t even say please.”
“Dean…”
Dean spun on his heel in the doorway and braced his hands on the jamb, raising his eyebrows, expectant. “Hmm?”
Instead of saying ‘please,’ Cas fixed Dean with a determined gaze and said, “I appreciate everything you do for me. Very much.”
Cas saw Dean absorbing the words, and that felt good too. Dean inhaled as if that might be part of it, that he needed to breathe such comments in, and his gaze dropped as his cheeks turned attractively pink. Dean cleared his throat and stood straight, scratching the back of his neck.
“Sure. I mean, whatever. No problem. I’ll just get on that.” Dean nodded and muttered to himself, “The bedspread. The spread of your bed.”

i don't really want to weight in on the "using big words in your writing is ableist" discourse happening on tiktok because i'm like 90% certain it's an anti-intellectual psyop to stir up drama in online circles to promote the use of ai to summarize literally everything and thus feeding the LLMs and lowering the populace's mistrust of such tools but i also have to say: dictionaries and thesauruses are the most accessible they've ever been. if you use an e-reader of any kind you can look up a word without leaving the page. there's a plethora of online dictionaries and if you just type a word + "meaning" into google it'll usually give you a definition. we used to have pocket dictionaries we used when reading in class. i have two on my shelf right now that i used in high school. stop letting the fascists purposefully misuse anti-ableism rhetoric to trick you into never thinking again.
