                 “Winning is all that is important to you?” So that is what it boils down to, then. Win, win, win – she gives herself no chances to lose unless her enemies are to find a way around it. And smart as Akechi may be, he’s not about to walk into a losing game so willingly. Not until that loophole is found and exploited, at least. “I can’t believe the woman I admired so much would allow for this,” he laments with an expression growing more serious. “You only care to win. And what of your sense of justice? You’ve lost it.” Ah – but so has he! The hypocrite. But if he’s to get under her skin, he can’t bring his own falsities ( as they were never truly faults to begin with if their truth was never there ) to light.

     “ Hasn’t it always been this way . . . ?! “  Irritation laced in her words as the sense of justice was brought up . What does he know of this so called justice if he himself was working alongside the thieves who he had said was on the wrong side of the law ? The contradiction made her scoff , shaking her head in disapproval .  “ Nothing will come of the loser && are just thrown away once their use is gone ! && even if you are in the right side of justice , you’ll only be put down , scandals , false statements just to save the other - or just straight up kill you . “  A brief flash of her father invaded her thoughts before shaking it away . A second moments worth of weakness would only bring her downfall .

“Him?!” Any cool facade she had was now shattered, the confirmation of a traitor amongst them came as a shock. More of a shock that all of their worries and doubts were real. They had to continue on with their plan, however or else this will be all for nothing. “Have you had him rid you of any enemies, or even someone who got in your way?” The next sentence to come out of Sae’s mouth would determine how much faith in her sister Makoto would lose.

     “ Rid off ? “  Sae tilted her head , eyes narrowing in brief confusion before realization hit her .  “ If you mean the mental shutdown , then of course not . My real self has no idea , after all . “  And that was the truth of it . A light shrug to half indicated the innocence present for once . Though , Sae did wonder if the group did know about the certain traitor that lingered amongst them , a rather obvious person if you asked her .

   A Shadow-self, clearly. Jaundiced eyes aside, there was always a certain queerness to the way these vectors of repressed emotions presented themselves: ever-exaggerated, in appearance and voice. This sort of manifested firm will couldn’t be bargained with, usually – it was more interested in being acknowledged than talking things out. 

   “Investigating,” came a prompt response – Charlie’d prefer to avoid combat, if possible. Without the genuine article around, it’d just keep getting back up. Provoking it in a place of power was even less advisable. “Not too big on gambling.”

     “ That’s a shame , maybe next time then . “  As if there was a next time even , but who knows ? Fate had an odd way of twisting things around after all .  “ Well , Mr. Investigator , what pray tell might you be investigating here ? Surely there are much more appropriate places to conduct as such . “

     Sae was rather interested in his doing here . Whatever it may be , she would gladly entertain the new guest on whatever was on his mind . Freely allowing him to roam the place with less shadows than usual , but if he was somehow related to the thieves , of course , precautions would be placed .

“We’re Phantom Thieves. We do a lot of things we shouldn’t. Doesn’t mean we don’t need to.” What was the saying? ‘If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.’ But when it is broken…

“I’ll have to explain it to your real self to make sure it all goes off without a hitch, but once you get right down to it, my plan is simple.” ‘Make it up as I go’ did tend to be a very straight-forward plan, yes, and Joker wasn’t sure what half the words he was saying would be until they were already out of his mouth. “The best time to catch someone off-guard is when they think they’ve already won. So, how do we make them think they won? Easy.”

“You didn’t lose to Joker. You captured Shiro Shinohara.”

     “ That may be true , “ Sae chuckled before snapping her fingers to make any lingering shadows nearby disappear for the time being , she sighed . The bitter taste of lose on her mouth was wrenching , but if that small persisting righteousness of justice was anything to go by , she knew it was the right decision .  “ Good luck with speaking to her , I doubt that she will be easily swayed by the words of a thief . “

               Says her that was swayed by the thief .

     “ The plan you lot have sought out was quiet impressive , “  A small hint of praise present on her words .  “ It seems that I’ve underestimated you all - tell me , was it . . . Queen , rather , who strategized your plan ? “  There was nothing to it , but mere curiosity && a small bit of pride swelled up .

     The sudden restlessness of the shadows alerted the manager of someone entering the casino , assuming it being the thieves once more , a small greeting to see their progress wouldn’t hurt at all . A quick trip to the grand entrance , what greeted her there was not someone she expected at all .

     The man looked older- more experienced in this kind of world . The skill present on how he seemed to carry himself around the place , albeit a bit different than accustomed to , it shouldn’t be that far from what the other has dealt with .

          Maybe .

     “ You’re not one of those thieves . . . “  Was the first thing that she noticed && had commented on it , though the power the manager felt from him was familiar as those with the group , it was certain that the other wasn’t a part of them . Seeing as he didn’t wear those odd costumes that they frequently jump around in . In any case , the lack of the mask did also give it away anyways . 

     But nonetheless , he was seen as a threat in her world . Whatever intentions he had to do here would be closely observed , who knows what the other would conjure up ? He wasn’t one of those teens that dare try && take her treasure , but it didn’t mean the other was allowed && welcomed in without a reason .

     “ So , who are you ? “  A simple question to satisfy a curious mind , though , not giving a name would be more advisable . A small background or identity would suffice for the time now .
