hi everyone, and welcome to fy-the9! it’s still kind of under construction  but I’m hoping that this update/trans blog stays useful for everyone!!

below the cut I’ll add some resources for new cpop fans since it seems like the9 has attracted a lot of new cpop fans (which is always cool btw)

some cpop fandom basics:

pls be respectful to senior artists!!! ik it’s obvious but seniority is super big and wayy more pronounced in the cpop industry 

don’t call the girls “queen of cpop” or say “xyz paved the way”... wayv got in a ton of weibo drama because of fans who found tweets by intl fans

a lot of kpop terms don’t carry over!! selca=zipai maknae=mangnei saesang=sisheng ship=cp unnie/noona=jiejie oppa/hyung=gege dongsaeng=meimei (female)/ didi (male) oshi*=bias kami-oshi*=ult *only applies to 48 franchise groups

same goes with sns: weibo is kind of like twitter oasis is kind of like instagram douyin is the chinese version of tiktok

solo stans are normal and to be expected. it’s totally cool if you solo stan a member as long as you don’t drag other members to raise your bias up

political posts are common. it doesn’t necessarily mean your idol supports the cause, but celebrities are expected to voice support for ccp policies. 

lower your expectations from kpop. the idol industry in china is not as developed so expect your faves to go mia for long periods of time (which is why solo activities are more common than group ones)

be careful of what you say. weibo fights can be super petty and they aren’t afraid to use intl posts to justify their hate.

finally, don’t feel afraid to ask around and have fun!!

as you’ve probably all noticed, there have been no updates recently: unfortunately it is no longer possible for me to upload pictures from weibo picture links. due to this (screw you tumblr) new circumstance, and the fact that school is starting to pick up for me, I no longer think that I would be able to continue with this blog for the time being. I know it’s especially hard for international fans to access consistent updates for the girls, and I’m sorry that I can no longer do so.

Hopefully I will be able to come back in time for their final month together, but if not, this is a goodbye from me. Thank you to all followers for supporting this blog, you guys really were the main motivator for the updates.
