@ashadash I'm so glad you asked. [Forgive me but this is long af cuz its one of my favorite rare ships but i have tldr if you wanna skip to the end]
So Mel and Vi both have similar family relationships. So Vi yearns for Vanders approval. She learns fighting from him and clearly watches how he interacts with zaunites and piltover because she expresses concern about how he's changing. She wants to live up to his expectations, but she rebels against his feelings about how they should live their lives. Vi wants to be more active in fighting back against piltover while vander is more mellow about it.
Mel learns everything her mom can teach her but she doesnt want to follow in her footsteps when it comes to the more violent ways. Mel feels cast out but is doing everything in power to prove her worth and make her mom proud of her. However they both feel like they fall short and it fucks with them, so they'd easily relate to each other one that.
Vi and Mel both wanna rebel against their parents for opposing reasons, which is good cuz they would balance each other out. When to fight and when to be diplomatic.
Vi and Mel are both fiercely loyal and kind hearted at their core, so they would definitely learn each other love language and make sure the other knows and feels how much they care about them.
They are both the type to put in the effort for what they want and who they care about so they will be able to depend on each other. Vi feels like she has to be a protector because of how she was raised and Mel feels like she has to be the best because she's doing everything on her own so if their partner needs something they are there to help. This would be great for both of them because they would replenish each other's efforts so it's not a lopsided relationship.
They will say how they feel about shit and won't beat around the bush. If they like something or they don't you'll know. So they won't have the same dynamic they do with their respective partners. They are both emotionally intelligent so they wont just think about themselves when they do disagree about something which is different from how Caitlyn and Jayce are.[Jayce gaslights Mel in that argument about her only seeing him as an investment and Caitlyn guilts Vi into becoming an enforcer]
They both have the things the other lacks. Vi is more hot-headed/ready to fight, and Mel is more methodical/let's plan this out first type. They would be able to help each other grow in that respect.
Plus they are both visually opposites which i like. Mel is more prim and proper while Vi is more rough and tumble and it hot as hell to see people who look like total opposites but fit so perfectly together.
TLDR: They have similar but opposing family dynamics and their opposite qualities would help each other grow. They are both loyal to a fault so they can count on each other. Plus they're hot as fuck.
