Look i may sound a little greedy for this but a Blake & Mortimer live action movie is not enough. I need a full reboot of the animated show NOW.
this scene will never not be funny to me.

Blake & Mortimer: The Yellow M: Directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. 1953, London. MI5 Captain Francis Blake and Physicist Philip Mortimer fin
In production, but no cast list? Why? And… action comedy? How?
Excuse me?!!
I mean action comedy: why not, sounds fine to me !
The real issue is why oh why start with the Yellow Mark. It's a great story but the ending works so well in the books because you know who Olrik is. If you don't have background on Olrik, you need to transform the whole story to have another character introduced early on in the movie to then become Guinea Pig... Oy veh.
The main problem (at least for me) is that there is no mention to science fiction, which is what characterizes most B&M albums, and the Yellow Mark is no exception. The fact that they don't mention it leaves a lot to be desired… Honestly, I particularly dislike the “comedy” part, because it suggests a break with Jacobs' works and a distancing from the Jacobsian spirit.
My sister hypothesized (very plausibly in my opinion) that Olrik would possibly be the main antagonist and, if Septimus is part of the story, he would be a mere secondary character (the scientist in the villain's pay, a bit like Miloch). In that case, of course, the reason why Olrik is the mysterious character behind the Yellow Mark mask would be completely different (as you mentioned). And that's almost painful to think about because the whole scientific part of the album would be erased.
Anyway... I just want to hope for the best, although at this point my expectations are low.

Olrik, posing
A gift for @\thecriminaladventurer on instagram :))
(I saw this pose on Pinterest and could only think of him)

Two of these we've seen. I'm intrigued by the one with Mortimer... pulling out Excalibur? Olrik smugly watching an explosion is too funny. Clearly they've decided he's an asshole cat knocking things over and walking away. The one with him on the castle look like he's got a bag of loot and no place to go.
This book is going to be weird.
"This book is going to be weird."
Whenever has a Blake and Mortimer book not been weird though? :D

Come on...!! We don't even know the cast yet :(
And, supposedly, shooting is scheduled to start in autumn...
So these covers are better than the one with Olrik looking like an annoyed cat in a pet carrier, but the second is definitely a “what the hell?” moment. Is he a pirate? My dude, where do you get your clothes?
