Inktober Day Six: Jaime Reyes and Bart Allen

that ship meme with the pumpkins: bluepulse!

Choses the pumpkin: If it’s Bart’s first Halloween, Jaime lets him pick it out, but afterwards Jaime does it because he’s one of those weirdos that wants a perfect pumpkin and is only happy with the ones he picks. Alternatively, neither of them gets to pick because Milagro insisted she do it.

Carves the pumpkin: Bart could probably do it faster, but he’d also cut himself like a loser so Jaime needs to step in because, as I said, Bart’s probably never done it before

Gets scared and clings the other in a haunted house: I feel like they both do, Bart just has less shame about it lol

Matching costume idea: This is def something Bart would do, I just have no idea what costume they’d choose. i feel like he’d propose going as batman and robin just to irritate the actual batfam but Jaime would shoot him down bc no cariñowe do not anger the bats

Makes a cozy bed-fort to cuddle in: Bart always Bart he uses any and all excuses to touch Jaime all the time and this fact is 100% canon fight me

Steal’s the other’s candy: okay (hear me out) obvs Bart sneaks Jaime’s candy all the time, but Jaime would 100% steal Bart’s candy - not to eat it - just so that Bart can’t have anymore because heaven knows he doesn’t need it. as the scarab points out this tactic is ineffective bc bart is an expert thief

Accidentally gets lost in a corn maze: Well Jaime can fly and Bart could be out in .2 seconds so I feel like neither. But in a no-powers AU probably Bart because he’s a NERD

Tells spooky stories to scare the other: Bart. It doesn’t work, and usually ends with Jaime rolling his eyes at his dork boyfriend

Collects cool-looking leaves: Bart carries on the speedster tradition of picking up things he finds laying around obvs

Idk what your opinion on Disney is, but I can't stop imaging Bart singing Disney songs. Like I can see him thinking they're the coolest, cause he never got to have this type of this in his era, and dude SHE JUST SAVED FREAKING CHINA.

Ok but YJ!Bart Allen absolutely demanding to go to Chuck E. Cheese for his birthday because holy cow all the pizza he can eat AND super sweet games to keep him occupied?? It’s real?? He’d only ever heard of it in legends. And Jaime being all, “Dude, really? You want to go there for your b-day?” and Bart just booms, “DUDE! They don’t HAVE Chuck E. Cheese after the apocalypse.” And Jaime just laughs and smiles and promises he’ll be there because he remembers that Bart never got the happy childhood that he did.

yes bart allen can sing very well but its not like hes ever taken lessons or anything (reach apocalypse and all that) and he probably used to sing lullabies to the younger kids back in the future

it takes awhile for anyone from the past to hear bart sing because it takes awhile for him to even have the time to listen to the radio and learn any pop songs and get them stuck in his head and the first person to notice is jaime just because he’s one of the few who takes the time to try and notice things about bart when most people get exhausted cause he’s buzzing around so much

on the nights when neither of them can sleep bart probably hums songs until jaime falls asleep so at least one of them gets some rest

when they share a bed jaime doesn’t need blankets because bart is so warm already

BluePulse: Would they ever consider marriage? If so, who was the one to propose? What was the other’s reaction? What was their answer?

Bart would be the first one to suggest they get married, but he’d say it so casually and thoughtlessly that Jaime would probably choke on his spit and be too flustered to say anything back. After a few weeks of mustering up the courage, Jaime finally formally proposes. Instead of the usual “yes, of course I’ll marry you” response, Bart just sighs dramatically. “Well it’s about time! I already picked out the cake and decorations.” 

….and then Bart would proceed in attempting to talk Jaime into wearing a dress at their wedding

Jaime probably kissed Bart first (and it was probably to get him to stop talking)

Like they were probably sitting on the couch and Jaime’s been sending Bart signals all night and he doesn’t know if Bart’s ignoring them or if he’s just being obvious enough or what. And then he just can’t take it anymore so he leans over and kisses Bart in the middle of his sentence and it’s probably the first time Jaime has ever seen him speechless before.

How does Jaime feel when other people flirt with Bart? Does he react to this? If so, would Bart notice?

Bart’s very casual around other people and quick to intrude on their personal space, so when someone else flirts with him, he doesn’t even realize and just considers it them being friendly. 

Jaime notices, though. He usually ends up silently glaring at whoever is flirting with his boyfriend, while Khaji tells him to chill.  

When people flirt with Jaime, however, Bart gets really jealous and makes sure to establish that Jaime’s taken by putting his arm around him, kissing him in public, and very loudly establishing that “this is my boyfriend, Jaime. JAIME REYES IS MY BOYFRIEND.”

Thank you so much for those HC they made me smile a ton! Now I can't stop imagining Nightwing pulling Jamie to the side one day after a mission, and Jamie's freaking out cause "WHAT DID I DO?!" But then Dick starts talking about "Okay so when making out with a speedster, don't do it against a wall because you will faze through it and you will fall into their parents bedroom and it will be awkward." And then the two of them have a speedster gossip night

Half the time Jaime isn’t sure where he stands with Dick because one minute he’s taking orders during mission and the next they’re sitting in the kitchen of the Watchtower eating someone’s leftovers and talking about their boyfriends

Jaime isn’t sure if he should laugh at Dick’s story or not so Dick probably ends up laughing at Jaime’s confused expression

They probably sit around and share speedster horror stories

Jaime’s probably like “I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve been caught by my little sister…”
