And another one!
The Finale - May 18, 2003 - closing night on Broadway
Disney smile + raw vocal power = my favorite live Eponine.
Her “known” still gives me chills every. single. time.
An anon just sent me a message about Emily Bull as Cosette, who I have never heard. So, if you are like me, here there is Alistair Brammer (Marius), Emily Bull (Cosette) and Nancy Sullivan (Eponine) singing A Heart Full of Love. It was Emily’s and Nancy’s last performance
A very young girl was standing in the half-open door. The dormer window of the garret, through which the light fell, was precisely opposite the door, and illuminated the figure with a wan light. She was a frail, emaciated, slender creature; there was nothing but a chemise and a petticoat upon that chilled and shivering nakedness. Her girdle was a string, her head ribbon a string, her pointed shoulders emerged from her chemise, a blond and lymphatic pallor, earth-colored collar-bones, red hands, a half-open and degraded mouth, missing teeth, dull, bold, base eyes; she had the form of a young girl who has missed her youth, and the look of a corrupt old woman; fifty years mingled with fifteen; one of those beings which are both feeble and horrible, and which cause those to shudder whom they do not cause to weep.
Emotionally, it is a very different way of going at it from the stage to the film world because we made some differences for this character based on the novel. On stage, you can drift past a few details, and it works. In film, you can’t, because you read every flick and you go, ‘why has he done that,’ because everything’s more reality and nothing’s heightened. And so, for me, it was like…. we had to tie up some loose ends in the love triangle, and for Eponine, we had to add some of the details in. You know…. she doesn’t take the letter for Cosette for Marius, which, in the musical, makes her kind of a more loved character. In this, she actually steals the letter and hides it from him, decides not to give it to him, which is kind of…. it’s her natural decision process. She’s grown up with a twisted morality, and that’s kinda a product of that. But I think that that, that kind of adds a depth to her, and it adds kind of, for me….. it was exciting to create those layers and to see more of an insight into the background of this girl.

The saddest piecharts you will ever see
Lily Frazer singing On My Own in London. Despite the audio is not mine, it was my first time seeing Les Misérables live… such a magical night!
the daughter of a wolf
friendly reminder that 45 % of eponine's dialogue is complaining and every thing she does is motivated by her own selfishness so making her into a saint is not exactly accurate.
