fuck it, mcr as cartographic projections
Frank -> Mercator. Controversial. People who know nothing about cartography love to shit on it but it's needed for important purposes (maritime navigation & web maps)
Ray -> Winkel tripel projection. Triple threat. Used by national geographic so you know it's the good stuff. Beautiful, underrated.
Gerard -> Dymaxion projection. Weird and unusual but at its core deeply human (shows the migration of early humans easier than any other projection). Top 5 projections that say "any pronouns are fine"
Mikey -> Werner projection. <3 MIGEY
Hey, I'm curious: does anybody out there work in the GIS (geographic information systems/science) field? Or know anyone who does?
I'm looking into a career change, and I have an interest in data analysis, but I've just stumbled upon GIS again and honestly it sounds SO much more interesting that your average corporate America data analysis bullshit, so I'm trying to learn more about a possible career in GIS.
I know there's obviously probably a wide variety of jobs within the field, and that will definitely affect what tasks would look like day to day, but I'd love to hear from anyone currently (or previously!) working in GIS, especially what an average day might look like, and what kind of skills/certifications might be more useful.
Feel free to respond in reblog, tags, asks, or DMs! I'm eagerly absorbing all info about it at the moment 👀👀👀

So connect the Windsor-Quebec Corridor and the Northeast Corridor with HSR, that isn't that bad of an idea. It doesn't even need to be that distant dream that is Meglev, just making it fast frequent rail would do it, I would prioritize getting a connection between Boston and Montreal in this system but it is an exciting idea
Anyways the travel times on that map are insane, but it would be a good system still. Anyways here is a picture of the proposal from a geographic map instead of a stylish visual
