I got my nose pierced with a hoop. Will it heal curved? Will I ever be able to wear a stud?

I think you can still wear a stud, yes. People switch out hoops for studs and vice versa all the time after getting a nose piercing. (In fact, I’m pretty sure I posted a video a while back of a woman who did this on camera.)

As for how it will heal, I’m not a professional piercer, and everyone’s piercings heal differently from each other. You’d need to ask a professional piercer. There’s a link on our FAQ page to the Piercings By AJ blog. Feel free to submit a question to his ask box about that. (But search the blog to check and see that he hasn’t already asked this question.)

Hey, hope you don't mind me asking a quick question but I'm so unsure. Basically I want to switch the stud out, permanently, for a delicate nose ring as soon as it's all healed up - I just don't know what size or guage stud to get pierced with in order to do so. Ideally I would get the smallest possible stud, but I don't know what this would be and can't find a definite answer on the internet. Thanks!

There won't be a definite answer for this on the Internet because you really need to go into a piercing parlor and have a professional piercer help you out with this (at least if this is your first time getting a piercing [other than the usual ear piercings]). The shape and size of your nose, as well as how snug or loose your want the hoop/ring to be, is going to determine the diameter of the hoop/ring. The gauge is something better discussed with a professional piercer if you plan on going up or down a size from whatever gauge stud you have in your nose right now.

February Update, January Laziness

I posted a little over a month ago that things would get back to normal here on the FYNR blog, and then literally posted nothing else in January. Apologies. December it was Holiday busyness and sickness, but January was mostly just laziness. I’m posting today and setting up posts for at least the next few days, if not for the rest of February. Happy New Year & Holidays Update

First of all, if you’re reading this post, you’ve made it to 2016! Happy New Year!

Secondly, apologies for not doing ANY posting here in December. The Holiday season is always busy, but on top of that things just went totally wrong at my house this year. Things in my family’s kitchen were falling apart and needed replaced, a relative ended up in the hospital, and I got sick for the first time in four years. So there wasn’t much time to even THINK about posting here. But the Holidays are gone now, a new year is upon us, and posting will resume as usual.

As always, you can submit photos AND videos through our “Submit A Photo/Video” page. The instructions to submit either are clearly explained at the top of the page.

A necessary reminder: I do not offer medical advice on nose piercings. I will suggest that you talk to the piercer who pierced you or their fellow piercers, or redirect you to the Piercings By AJ blog (which is linked on our FAQ page).

Hey! I was wondering if you could recommend me any stores/sites to buy affordable nostril hoops off of? I've checked the typical esty & store envy but it's all septum rings now & bigger gauge sizes. I'm in search for a decorative nose hoop that won't cost me $80 haha. Thanks so much!!

We have information on our FAQ page about the perils of buying piercing jewelry online compared to buying it directly from a piercing parlor. Reputable piercing parlors are best.

I can’t vouch for the costs, but Anatometal sells quality nose piercing jewelry, at least according to AJ of the Piercings By AJ blog. (He’s the professional piercer who wrote 90% of our FAQ page. See his Anatometal piercing posts here.) Use the shop locator on Anatometal’s website to find shops near you that sell the jewelry. They might even ship the jewelry out to you if the shop is too far away for you to drive there. That’s probably the best you could do quality-wise.

As for simply finding an inexpensive decorative nose hoop that is still made of quality material, if Anatometal doesn’t do it for you... I don’t really know what other brand have inexpensive, quality jewelry. Most of the quality stuff is going to be expensive, so it’s probably best to just save up and then get something good. I don’t want to suggest something cheap that might irritate or ruin your piercing.
