We Catch Up With Cast of Scream Queens At Paleyfest
The Cast of “Scream Queens” Talk to us about their Characters, Who They Would Like To Have On The Show, and also, Try To Name All The People Who Have Died On The Show!
Here are the “Scream Queens” Season 2 character descriptions:
The Chanels (Roberts, Breslin, Lourd): Following up on the season finale, the Chanels have been committed to mental institution, where they’ll be studying under their former nemesis Dean Munsch. “Things have been flipped around,” said Falchuk.
Hester (Michele): While Falchuk didn’t detail Hester (a.k.a. Chanel #6’s) role in the operations of the hospital, he said, “In this hospital, there’s some funny business going as well. There’s an aspect to this show that involves murder and a killer and in those ways Hester is going to be intimately involved.”
Zayday (Palmer): After graduating from Wallace University in two years, Zayday will be training to become a doctor under the supervision of Dean Munsch.
Dean Munsch (Curtis): After traveling the world in search of a new passion, Dean Munsch buys a hospital and will “run this hospital the way she sees fit.She will take on the cases no one else will take and the conditions everyone says are incurable,” said Falchuk, to which Curtis immediately added, “And fix the broken system!””
Denise (Nash): Denise is now a member of the FBI and will cross paths with the other characters when her expertise is needed to solve the worsening problems at the hospital.
Falchuk also confirmed the return of actor Glen Powell and the addition of three new characters, who he described as “stud-ly doctors.”
It’s official. Well, sort of. The Scream Queens panel confirmed tonight at PaleyFest what we already told you – Jamie Lee Curtis, Keke Palmer, Abigail Breslin, and Billie Lourde will be reprising their roles in Season 2 of the Fox horror anthology. All were present for this evening’s fan confab at the Dolby Theatre along with already confirmed cast members Emma Roberts, Lea Michele and Niecy Nash, and co-creator and executive producer Brad Falchuk. It was also announced that Glenn Powell, who plays the infamous womanizer Chad Radwell, is also set to return.
Falchuk said that they were in the early stages of writing Season 2 but offered some tidbits on what to expect. As it has been reported, the sophomore season will take place in a mental hospital. “Dean Munsch has moved on to great success, she’s abolished the Greek system in the country… she’s written her book, she’s traveled the world, and is like, ‘I need a new mission’,” Falchuk said. This leads her into the health care field, where she decides to purchase a hospital and “runs the hospital the way she sees fit” taking on the seemingly incurable “cases that no one else will take.” Falchuk says the hospital will attract great thinkers as well as medical students. One of those great thinkers is Zayday (Palmer), who graduated from Wallace College in two years and is now training under Dean Munsch to be physician.
On what to expect for the Chanels — who where last seen being committed into a mental institution — Falchuk reveals that the girls have “flipped and taken their education seriously while in the institution,” and will become medical students as well. On Michele’s Hester, Falchuk says that in the hospital there will be an aspect of murder and a killer that Hester will be “intimately involved with.” As for Denise, she has joined the FBI and will be involved in the hospital mishaps as well.
Recently, it was announced that Scream Queens was awarded a California state tax credit to film in Los Angeles, something for which Curtis was very grateful for. “When Governor Schwarzenegger was elected, my friend, we really hoped he was going to basically give back to the community that gave him so much by bringing production back to California.”
“There has been an exodus out of California,” she said, commending the idea of “bringing production back to California, where the jobs should be.”
Scream Queens is the second anthology series to come from Falchuk and Ryan Murphy following American Horror Story. Unlike AHS, the series will continue to use the same characters as the story changes. On the decision to not follow that theme, Falchuk said tonight, “it was much more of the horror movie way of looking at it, a sequel,” equating it to the likes of Curtis’ character in Halloween.
With that said, Curtis was quick to point out that “Halloween 2 was in a hospital. … They’re following the Halloween model all the way.”

Emma Roberts is officially returning for season two of Scream Queens, idiot hookers! Roberts herself exclusively confirmed to E! News that she will be reprising the fan-favorite (and dare we say iconic?!) role of Chanel Oberlin, season one’s HBIC, at the Ralph Lauren Polo presentation at New York Fashion Week on Friday.
“Yeah, Chanel is back!” Roberts told us. “I’m so excited for season two of Scream Queens because I can only imagine what the writers have in store for Chanel.”
Season two will move off of the college campus and to a hospital, with four cast members reportedly set to return from season one. (Well, make that three now that Roberts has confirmed she’s returning.)
After the show was officially picked up for a second season, a source told E! News that Scream Queens would be introducing four new male cast members, who will all play doctors, when it returns. These actors will be in their late 20s, early 30s, and the casting search is currently underway.
“I mean I hope there’s four hot doctors because I feel like if there is anything season two needs it’s four hot doctors,” Roberts said of the new additions.
Known for his casting prowess, Ryan Murphy will surely snag some big names for the roles, but Roberts is hoping some of season one’s male cast members might return (Glen Powell, Oliver Hudson and Diego Boneta all starred, with Nick Jonas guest-starring).
“I hope they bring a couple people back from the first season cause I love all those boys so much,” Roberts said when we asked who’d she’d like to see join the cast in the four roles. “You are putting me on the spot, too much pressure, but I know that if Ryan Murphy does one thing well it’s casting amazing, talented and really hot people. He always casts the cutest boys!”
While we’re heard Jamie Lee Curtis is expected to return and Lea Michele told us she’s talked to Murphy about coming back, no official casting news has been announced by Fox.
“It really hasn’t been decided who’s coming back and how many of them will be playing their old characters. Ryan and Brad and Ian are actually working right now on that,” Fox boss Gary Newman told reporters at the 2016 Winter TCA Press Tour. “We’ll actually be sitting together quite soon and getting their take on it. Our instinct is that at least a few of those characters will be back as the same actors playing the same roles, but it it will be anthological in that there will be a time jump and they’ll be in a different setting.”
