As most of you all know by now, today marked a sad occasion in the Monkees world with the passing of Dale, Nez’s very beloved pet dog. Dale was predeceased by her sibling, Roy, and we hope that they are together now, roaming freely across unending meadows bathed in sunlight and warm breezes wafting through the grass.
The animals that we bring into our lives are the only beings that love us unquestioningly, without condition or demand, and whose love continues on long after they (and we) are gone from this earth. We have no doubt that the same holds true for Nez and Dale, and his deep affection for all his pets is one of the many reasons that we adore this man. While he may get another dog in the coming weeks or months, it seems a near certainty that no critter will ever take the place of Dale in Nez’s heart.
With all that said, we here at NP offer our deepest sympathies to Nez, and we honor the memory of Dale, who brought her master so many hours of happiness and joy. A fond farewell to you, Dale, and may the chew toys be squeaky and the dogwiches plentiful wherever you are.
