Thinking about that quote from Nomura about how Kingdom Hearts reflects his belief that “the heart is never truly gone” and THAT’S why KH is so great to me. That’s at the core of its philosophy and why it connects emotionally for so many people. Kingdom Hearts says no one is ever really gone and everyone is connected and anything is possible. Maybe it’s a childish fantasy to believe that everything will be okay no matter how bad things get, and maybe that’s why Disney works so well in KH, but damn if it doesn’t work for me. I want Roxas and Xion to be okay even though they shouldn’t exist, I want the Wayfinder trio to reunite even though they should be broken and lost and possessed, I want Strelitzia to return even though she should be dead. Don’t we all want impossible things to happen? Isn’t it nice to imagine?
