Isaiah smiled, “thanks Gabriel.” He was happy he was able to spend time with his brother. Sure he hated the situation but he was still happy that it was happening. “For fun? I have no idea I usually spend my time in the lab but I don’t think you would find that as fun as I do.”

Gabe smiled as he saw his brother happy. “You are most certainly welcome, brother.” He said and smiled even more. “What do you do in the lab? Maybe I want to become a scientist just like you. I think it would be lots of fun!”

Anna nodded in understanding before blowing the smoke the other way, not wanting him to inhale it if he was needing fresh air, “You don’t need to fake smile around me. I’m just a volunteer.” Anna assured gently.

He watched the other blow the smoke in the other directions and kind of ignored what was said. “How come you smoke? Is it because it makes you feel cool or helps you relieve stress? That’s what I heard about smoking.”

“I’ve known her for quite a while now. Since I started working here, she was one of the first people I met. I do think she loves me. I feel it when I’m with her.” he couldn’t help but smile. “Don’t be sorry bro just ask less at a time so I can answer them all and then move on to more.”

“That’s really cute, Isaiah!” He said as he smiled and looked at his brother. He was pretty jealous that his brother had found someone, but he was more happy than he was jealous. He smiled as he looked down at his hands and nodded. “Alright, but I don’t think I have anymore.. Except, what is there to do for fun around here?”

“I’m pretty sure some time in the next few days. She is 23 and as far as I remember she is an only child,” he looked at Gabriel trying to keep up with all the questions. “I might have an eidetic memory but you have to slow the questions down.”

“Really? That’s really cool. how long have you known her? Do you think she loves you?” He asked, smiling. He was getting excited about his brother’s relationship. They were pretty ghostly to him, so he loved when he saw someone he cared about talking about them. “I’m sorry.. I just have lots and lots of them.”

“They are better!” He said as he smiled. “Its a pleasure to meet you, Beryl. I’m Gabriel.”

Isaiah nodded his head, “I did meet someone. You can’t tell anyone thought because she is a patient here. Her name is Beryl. She’s an amazing girl and she’s getting out soon. When she gets out I want to propose to her.”

Gabe nodded as he looked at his brother. “I won’t tell anybody, I promise!” He said before smiling softly. “When is she supposed to get out? How old is she? Does she have any siblings?” Gabe asked questions as fast as they would fly out.

Isaiah smiled keeping himself close to his brother, “you just have to meet the right people. Not everyone is mad. Yeah a lot of them are but not all.” He took a deep breath not sure how Gabriel was going to react. “I met someone.”

Gabe nodded as he looked at him and then looked down at his lap. Nobody in school ever really liked him, but that was something he had to deal with, so dealing with it in this place was going to be easier than most people thought. “You did? What’s her name?”

Isaiah gave him a small smile, “you mean everything to me Gabriel.” He nodded his head wrapping his arms fully around his brother, “I know buddy. Not everyone is bad though.” He looked down at his little brother for a moment, “I have something I need to talk to you about.”

Gabe nodded slowly. “And you mean everything to me, Isaiah.” He said honestly as he wrapped his arms around his brother. “Everyone is just mean..” He said softly, hating the fact that he had yet to make one friend while being here. “Sure-- What do you need to talk about?”

Anna looked over at the person who’d sat beside her outside, “Hey…you okay?” she asked, the other looking anything but.

The boy had a million things running through his head and the only thing that ever helped him was fresh air, and that’s all that he needed to get in order to calm down. He walked outside and sat down next to someone and when he heard her speak he spoke softly and put on the fake smile he was so great at making look real and nodded, “yeah.. Just needed some fresh air.”

“Dr. Wilder, but you can call me Josiah if that makes you more comfortable, or if you just prefer first name basis.”

“Whatever you prefer, sir.” He said as he looked at the male and inspected him a bit.

Isaiah nodded his head, “I know Gabriel and you aren’t without me. I’m here and I’m not going anywhere.” He continued to rub the other male’s back, “I love you Gabriel and we’ll get through this. I promise it might not feel like you belong and I get that, I’ve been there, but you will find that place where you belong.”

Gabe nodded as he looked at his brother. “Good.. I don’t want you to go anywhere.. You mean so much to me, Isaiah.” He said, sighing softly and looking at him again. “Things are just really hard and I am sorry that I made such a foolish decision and all, but I just didn’t think I had anywhere to turn to. The people in here scare me and I don’t want to be here.”

“Sometimes it does get to that point though. There is nothing to say it shouldn’t get to that point, sometimes it just sneaks up on someone,” he moved to rub his brother’s back. “Don’t be sorry. You’re alive and you’re here that’s what matters right now.”

Gabe shook his head and spoke softly. “No... It isn’t what matters.. I don’t wanna be here.. I don’t wanna be without my brother.. I just... I don’t wanna be here at all..” He said honestly. “I don’t feel like I belong anywhere.”

“It’s called having an off day. Of course you probably don’t know what that means. I’m sure outside of here you lived some charmed life. You seem like the type who got their way at all times. Also for the record I was here first so I’m not going anywhere not to mention I’ve served in the war I think that grants me the right to sit here.”

“I do know exactly what that means.” He said, looking at the male and shaking his head. “yeah. Such the charmed life I have.. My birth parents gave me up and I tried to kill myself. What the jolly life I am living, huh? Oh.. The war..? I’m pretty sure they don’t call it ‘serving in the war’ they call it serving in the military. Doesn’t make you any less of an ass.”
