âCould you not be so loud? Iâm really tired and your voice is so damn shrilly. Youâre at a ten, but Iâm going to need you to be at about a three, thank you.â He sighed, rubbing his temples. âNow can you tell me why youâre here, but at a different volume?â
âSo⌠What are you getting at, exactly?â
âI thought I was pretty clear. I donât see the need to repeat myself.â
âWoah, so many bad decisions were made last night. Is it normal to still be hungover at 9 at night from something that happened a day ago?â
âWhat the hell did you do, Bitter Beckham? Did you go partying with Audrie again?â
âSo tell me, what are you doing for fun this summer? Iâm trying to do something different. I never get a break and I have the whole summer off.â
âWell Iâm working this entire summer...Thanks for reminding me of that.â
âDo you really think this isnât that much of a mess? Look at my hands, this pant is really messyâÂ
âYou misheard me. I think itâs too messy. Now donât come near me with those filthy hands. I have somewhere I need to be.â
âI wouldnât say weak. Just.. struggling? But, okay, have it your way. Iâll just watch from here.â
Gabe once again began to walk towards his storage room with a large crate in his hands, but he could only make it a few steps before he had to stop. â...Okay, I need a little help.â
âWhy didnât they just leave their fifteen year old at home? I know I was at home alone when I was fifteenâ
âThatâs what I was thinking! Itâs fucking weird. Then again, it probably wasnât even his mother to begin.â
âAre you serious? Thatâs just ridiculous. Seriously, ugh, do they need to go to a bar that bad?â Sighing, Haru shrugged. âI canât believe people sometimes. I mean, come on, are they really that stupid?âÂ
âSadly people really are that stupid. I have underage people trying to get into my club all the time, but never with their mother. Then again, if his ID was better and the woman was hotter, I probably would have let them in.â
âYeah that probably wouldnât have made it worth it. Thatâs so weird though. I would hate to be put in that position.â
Thatâs not even the worse thing thatâs happened there. I have plenty of stories from both of my club, because I swear people are utter morons.â
âOh, really?â Makaya asked, frowning slightly. She sighed. âI canât imagine that. My mom has always been my rock.â she said, touching her hair nervously. âSorry about yours, though. That must have been rough.â
âA mother who actually parents? Thatâs a foreign concept to me.--Rough? Not at all. The fewer hot messes in my life, the better it is.â
Evan took a deep breath, closing his eyes. He just didnât want to feel alone- but he was. It wasnât the same, and that was why he hated when things changed. Heâd never liked change, not in the slightest- had fought hard to keep his life and the people around him exactly the same, but in the course of a day everything had changed. âLetâs drink then,â he muttered, standing up and loping over towards his bar, already halfway through planning whatever drink heâd make for himself in his head. He wanted to feel close to someone- but there wasnât anyone left in his life to feel close to. Heâd taken a torch to every bridge heâd ever built, and he had no one to blame but himself.
âEv...yeah, letâs drink.â He responded with a sigh, as he made his way over to the bar, walking right behind him. Sitting at a stool, he fiddled with one of the half empty bottles on the counter, trying to think of something to say. How would people in a normal friendship even comfort their friend in this situation? âHow did it go down? The breakup, that is.â
âiâm sure it does too. i think all moms want to be the âcool momâ. i think thatâs actually the sad part, where parents are no longer teaching their kids to be independent when theyâre gone. are they really? why donât you help them?âÂ
âYou know, I think you have a point there. Itâs not just mothers, though. All parents want to be the cool parent. In fact, I think I would want to be considered cool, if I had children.â He laughed. âWhy would I help them? Itâs funny to see them struggle.â
Lana raised an eyebrow at the question before crossing her arms over her chest. âThe request was for you to come to dinner, not ask me questions,â she pointed out before she sighed. âI need you to pretend to be my boyfriend for a couple of hours so that I donât have to deal with my crazy ass sister. After dinner, we can go back to hating and or never talking to each other again, capice?â
Gabe held his arms up defensively, trying to hold back the laughter that was bubbling up inside of him, he expected a reaction like that from her. âYou need me to be your fake boyfriend? Iâm honored that you would ask me and amused that you would think I wouldnât do something to screw this up.â One of his mischievous grins formed on his lips as he teased her. âI think it will be quite impossible not to talk to each other, once I ask for my favor.â
Sierra shrugged, âI can make it work right here.. or there..or anywhere.â the girl explained as she yawned, âletâs go lay in bed.. you can get the water on the way back.â she said standing up and made her way to the room plopping on the bed.
âGot it.â He said simply, as he raised up from his spot on the couch, feeling how fatigued his body really was. âFuck. Am I old? I feel like Iâm getting old.â As the joked left his lips, he laughed softly, before following her to the bedroom. âGod, your bed looks so comfortable.â Gabe said, instantly joining her and laying down.
