A shimmering blue moth is beating against the window, trying to get out - squirming in the heat that Utterson's candle created.
It's been 2 months since anyone heard of the name 'Henry Jekyll'. 2 months of silence, no letters, no other visits from the moth that had visited him before.
It was that damn mirror that frustrated him. There was something off about it, like a pressure was building up against the inner wall of the glass

Utterson’s heart leapt as he caught sight of the moth, he rushed to the window, hoping against hope that it would bring news of Jekyll.
He reached out a hand for the moth to land on.
There's been no further word from Jekyll. Nothing but the dust slowly gathering on the surfaces of his lab. Nothing was left even of his presence at all - fingerprints and smudges on cracked conical flasks, chemical spills, his overalls - all gone.
It was like he never even existed.

Utterson let out a shaky sigh, that familiar tightness creeped into his chest. He wasn’t really gone….he couldn’t be. Not after everything that they had been through, not after Utterson admitted his feelings.
It couldn’t just end.
Leave my baby cousin alone or you will be hearing from my firm for violating two restraining orders, you freak.

The same moth returns, crashing slightly against the window in its hurry to get to Utterson. It drops the letter in his waiting hands, a green wax seal sporting a white-golden rose as the centrepiece on the back of it

To distract myself I've started naming these wonderful specimens...much like the one delivering this to you I hope. I have named her Sable, quite fitting of an almost ethereal beauty I must say..

He paced around his study, his mind flashing an image of Hyde’s “dead” body laying on the laboratory floor.
The panic snuck back in…had Henry faked his death again?? No, he seemed too panicked in his notes to have done that. His chest ached again, he could feel the tears in his eyes, why did this have to happen again…?
Utterson was desperate to find Henry, he needed to lay eyes on him, to know that he was alive and well.
Where the fuck could he be.?.???

Utterson had bolted over as soon as the moth had flown out of the study.
He knocked desperately on the door to the laboratory.

Utterson was in full-blown panic mode, this was too familiar…it all felt too fucking familiar.

There's no answer, not even the whisper of a faint wind that usually whistles underneath the door. The door isn't even locked, which it usually was.
Utterson couldn’t breathe, it felt like he was chocking on air, as he entered the laboratory.
Henry??? Please tell me your here….
Utterson could feel the tears burning his eyes and blurring his vision. He gasped for breath, his chest tight.
Emptiness. Nothing but emptiness, the smell of chemicals overriding the coppery tang of blood that haunted the air.
It doesn't just feel empty. It's feels wrong, missing, as if a presence that was SUPPOSED to be there just simply...never existed.
Nothing but Utterson's own shaky breaths greeted him
HENRY!!!!!
Utterson screamed into the empty room as he doubled over, his desperation and pain overtaking him. He had been too late…he had no idea where else Henry could be, no other clue. He sat on the floor of the laboratory sobbing, he couldn’t fucking breathe.
Amidst the screaming in his brain and in the room, impossibly emanating from him, there's a rush of wind. He didn't sound like that.
The wind flutters next to his ear, a crinkling of paper
"Gabriel,
Help. Help me please I'm real tell me I'm real I'm real right?! You're...won't find me. I'm not...here. I'm not there I don't know were I am I love you please-...please don't forget me"
Utterson let out a shaky breath as he read the note. Henry was still alive.
I could never forget you…not even if I tried…I love you so much…I really do….
Utterson said it out loud.
The lab remains silent, Jekyll's lab coats hanging on the hanger where they always were, a slight sheening of dust already coating the wooden surfaces
The grand mirror that always lay covered with a cloth was now uncovered, cracks spiderwebbing across the reflection
Where did you go, Henry…?
Utterson approached the mirror, his hand coming to rest on the shattered mirror.

A moth, big and beautiful - only a slight tinge of green pigment in their wings lands outside Utterson's study window, seemingly observing.
They carry something in their twiggy legs, and it's a wonder the weight didn't break them.

He clutched the note tightly, he felt like the wall were closing in on him…it felt too familiar…all too familiar…if Henry was trapped int that wretched laboratory…if this was like last time….Utterson’s breath came up short.
The moth remains stationary in the room, observing with an almost intellectual gaze. It flies rather abruptly toward Utterson, landing on his shoulder

Utterson closed the door, trying his best not to slam it. He leaned against the door, his hand covering his mouth to silence his scream.
Every single fucking time, Henry did this every time without fail. Utterson was tired of it, he gave Henry so much love and care and got almost nothing recently. He was so fucking tired of it.
