                      With her arms crossed and elbows resting on her knees, colors remained locked on the other’s features as she attempted to take in his every word. It was immediate for the conversation to become a priority, barely caring for anything else as she nodded along to show she was following. ❝Hey,❞ she eased out as she moved to nudge the other with her shoulder. ❝You’re not hard to love, okay? That’s the first thing and very important to remember.❞ She even attempted to offer a reassuring smile towards her friend, though it fell soon after as she attempted to get her thoughts on the conversation in order. ❝I know it probably feels like a kick in the chest and confusing but, honestly, it sounds like she doesn’t really know either. And you don’t really know what’s going on with her right now, she could be focusing on something or just not in the right place for something like that, that’s just something you have to accept right now.❞ As much as she wanted to give him a more hopeful answer, she always attempted to be as honest as possible with the other, even if she wished she could have given him something more positive than what she did.

he let himself be nudged, his body swaying slightly due to her force but at the moment he didn’t really feel up for being playful. still stuck in his thoughts and the events of earlier. normally he’d have just went home and done a few lines until he forgot but he didn’t wanna do that anymore. he knew it wouldn’t be good for him and he was trying to stop harming himself in that way. “then why does no one love me?” he asked softly before he turned to look at her with sad eyes. “even the fucking gossip sites say i deserve to be happy with just my hand. and i know that it’s just a dumb loser behind a computer but it starts to hurt after a while, ya know? to continuously be told that you’re not worth anything more than a one night stand.” he ran a hand over his face before he continued. “everyone loves ‘gabriel imani’ but no one cares about gabe.” except for her, she always cared about him and he knew that. “except for you.” he turned to face her, his eyes connecting with hers. “you’ve always cared about me.”

                      It wasn’t unusual to find her gaze drawing to her phone as the familiar contact lit up the screen at such a late hour; it was about as common as the brunette finding herself awake for almost no reason. However, the other showing up entirely unannounced in the middle of the night was — more unusual, usually having a warming beforehand.  The bright light and the late time had fingers moving to rub her eyes as she slid the phone into the pocket of her sweatpants. There wasn’t any thought behind it, heading out of the apartment and down to the first floor, until she found herself at the front door. ❝What’s wrong?❞ Questioned quietly as she moved to drop beside him on the steps.

when he felt a presence near him he lifted his head to see devin plopping down beside him. he didn’t mean to drag her out of her apartment but he also knew he wouldn’t have been able to stop her either. “i just feel really shitty.” he admitted, he’d learned very quickly that it was hard to get things past devin. she was very observant and won’t take no for an answer. “i kinda poured my heart out to carolina and she said she didn’t think it was the right time.” he explained as he stared out into the distance. “but then she said that you did wanna try again and then she didn’t... it was just confusing so i said we should just be friends cause i’d rather have her in my life then not. but i just feel... hard to love, ya know?”

the conversation had gone from 0 to 100 very fast , and the brunette was growing more uncomfortable as the seconds ticked by . she didn’t expect this to happen at all when she agreed to visit him in the studio , but she knew it was probably good to clear the air somehow. “ yeah. i’m not sure if we’re both in the best positions right now to be with each other . “ she confessed, glancing over at him. it was an awful thing to admit, but she was scared to start something up again. she could take a risk and say yes, but carolina knew with their past that she couldn’t risk it anymore. “ no there’s probbaly not. but, i just don’t feel like right now is our time . “ she said, knowing she was making absolutely no sense. she wasn’t even quite sure what she was saying, as her eyes continued to meet gabe’s. letting out a sigh, she glanced away for a moment, trying to gather her thoughts. “i don’t want to say no.” she stated. “ but, i don’t want to say yes. i don’t really know what i want, basically. “

gabe knew even after all these years that she wasn’t telling the whole truth. that this whole thing was just something she was saying and that she probably didn’t actually believe it. but he’d decided very quickly that he wasn’t going to call her out on it because it was obvious that she was uncertain and confused and he wasn’t going to force her into something she didn’t want. so he stood with a small sigh of his own and moved to sit beside her, his hand gently resting on her knee as he avoided her eyes for a moment before finally meeting them. “then we won’t do this.” he started softly, a small smile making it’s way onto his lips to reassure her and himself that he’d be okay. “we can just... chill, be friends.” he chuckled softly at how bizarre that would be for them. “and if and when you end up deciding what you want then you just let me know.” he nodded once before he removed his hand from her thigh and placed his hands in his lap.

gabe knew he shouldn’t be here this late but he didn’t know where else to go. and honestly, he doesn’t even remember driving here. it was almost second nature to him at this point and while he should be a little alarmed by that fact he pushes it out of his mind to shoot her a text as he sits on her front steps.      ‘hey... r u up? i’m outside and i could really use the company.’  he set his phone down beside him as he rubbed his face and held his head in his hands. he was trying not to think about getting high. @outspokens​

their time in the studio had turned to lighthearted fun to a more tense conversation , one that carolina wasn’t quite sure she wanted to be having . her eyes fluttered up to his when he admitted he had missed her . carolina felt like she had spent ages away from gabe & she definitely missed him a whole lot , but the thing that had happened once the relationship ended only made things more complicated . carolina nodded at what he said , knowing that if they were going to continue spending time together , there would have to be a decision on her end of what she really wanted . “ you know i haven’t stopped thinking about you too . “ she admitted , glancing over at him as she let out a sigh . “ i do want to try again with you , but i don’t know if right now is the right time to do it , you know ? “ she said , not even knowing if she believed her own words . “ i mean , i miss you a lot …. i just don’t know if the timing is really right . “

gabe was nervous about putting his heart on the line like he just had. he usually isn’t as honest as he had just been, he’d have just shrugged the whole situation off and called it a night. but this was carolina, he couldn’t just shrug her off and part of him hated that. hearing her words had him feeling a little bit of hope as she began to express that she too had felt what he’d been feeling but all of that hope was beginning to crumble as she continued. “not the right time?” he pondered that as he looked anywhere but at her. he really didn’t wanna pressure her or do what he usually did in these kind of situations because he knows that if he were to leave that’d be the end. “i don’t get it. what does that even me? the right time? is it ever the right time for anything?” he didn’t understand how you could want someone and have them right there in your grasp but decide it wasn’t the right time so part of him was starting to think that maybe she was just trying to spare his feelings. “if you wanna say no you can just say it, caro. you don’t have to disguise it with this time thing.” his tone wasn’t harsh or filled with anger, more just soft and tired. it felt as though they’d been going in circles since they’d reunited and he really wasn’t looking to waste their time if this wasn’t what she really wanted. “i can handle it.”

“  so  you  thought  that  you  could  write  a  song  about  me  ,  and  then  not  suffer  because  of  it  ?  ”  there’s  a  light  chuckle  that  manages  to  escape  the brunette  as  she  looks  him  up  and  down  ,  “  you  see  i  think  that  once  you  see what’s  underneath  this  ,  ”  she  says  motioning  to  her  clothes  ,  “  you  know  that  my  album  comes  out  tomorrow  right ?  i’m  sure  it’ll  be  much  more  successful  than  your  pathetic  single  about  what  ?  fucking  me  and  then  ditching  me ?  so  how  do  keep  finding  ourselves  back  here  ?  ”

gabe honestly couldn’t tell you why he always seemed to find himself at lux’s place other than the fact that her thirst traps were some of the best he’d ever seen. but once she opens her mouth he starts to go soft. “and how exactly am i suffering exactly?” he furrowed his brows in confusion as she spoke. “i actually didn’t know that because i don’t really sit around all day stalking your life but cool, congrats on actually finishing a project. or is the bigger success that you actually found people to work with you?” he gazed at her with a smirk forming on his lips. “more successful huh? i’ll let you have your success but just know that my albums almost done as well.” at her last question he stepped forward with a small shrug. “you’re hot and you’re easy.”
