My favorite part of Thanksgiving and the winter holidays: the food and how it makes the house smell oh so good. The smell of ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon always puts me in a good mood.

Slowly making my way to a more traditional ramen. I wanted to make chashu to go in it, but I didn't make it to the butcher to get some pork belly. Instead this has bacon and chicken in it. Still yummy! Lessons learned: I used packaged ramen noodles instead of the instant ramen noodles, but noticed these noodles soaked up a lot of liquid (hence this wasn't a super brothy ramen). #ramen #cooking #noodlekind
Please excuse the messy background! 😅The house is still being worked on so I don't have a nice place to take prettier pictures. I was too proud how these came out to not share (first time making these)! This is a basic sandwich bread a la Julie Child. I hope I did her proud! We'll be set for lunch for the week! 🍞
I decided to check out this Italian grocery store on the way home from work, and oh my god I can't believe I haven't been here sooner! I found regular grape leaves that I've been on the hunt for and was absolutely amazed at all the goodies I've never seen before! I was also floored that this store had 3 aisles of pasta (end caps included!) plus fresh pasta being sold at the deli. I can't wait to come here again! ❤️

It's been a while since I've posted anything, but this is why! Sam and I have officially moved into our new house and have been doing pretty much a full renovation! New paint, new floors and even a couple new walls. It also means all of our spare time is being diverted into our house work. We're getting phase one wrapped up (painting and floors for half the house) and will be working on phase 2 next (hello new kitchen!)
A pretty spiderweb this morning
Oh, what's this? There's a chill in the air and the leaves are slowly starting to turn. Fall is almost here! Although I'm not quite ready to break out the pumpkin spice, today's cool weather definitely had me in a fall mood. Since last week was house renovating madness (with more still to come!) and Sam just came home from a work trip, I figured I'd cook something special (we had been living off Jimmy John's and pizza during part one of the renovation!). This is a scrumptious ham, chicken and leek pot pie with some fall leaf decoration. The crust is a lovely, buttery and flaky pastry dough that I made for the first time today! I'm quite happy with how it turned out! And now for a nice, heaping side of mashed potatoes! Recipe is from Paul Hollywood (recipe link in comment below).
