I like that all the RSA 7 are the female leads though I'm curious why they didn't choose the movie namesake/main protagonist (Hercules, Aladdin and quite literally THE LION KING). But like Yay, PRINCESSES!! You have no idea but seeing Aurora/Briar Rose makes me genuinely happy. One of my favee!
Saw the question "Which book is your favourite?" on tiktok and I just had to rant. Some of these I did comment on the tiktok post, I'm just expanding on it.
Warning: Book 3 (+ manga version) Spoilers btw. Just in case for those that need it. A bit of Book 4 and Book 7 too.
It's IMO, btw. So much glazing Azul that it might as well be an Azul appreciation post as well.
I like all the books tbh but I love book 3 a little too much. Other than being a big fan of Azul and just a fish mafia enjoyer, there's something pleasing with both the aesthetic and the story.
Idk, there's something so fun with just the smugness of octavinelle being already at the top at the start of the book. Azul was very ambitious and had stuff planned to almost perfection. Everything is falling into place that when one unexpected thing makes everything fail, it makes the crash out so good, lol.
He was so devious and planned for every little thing. He had a "what if the first years just ditch on the museum heist" backup plan and led them to a trap. He would have won at that moment too if Floyd didn't redirect the cauldron to the safe and distracted them. If Floyd had been in the mood to chase the first years after being reprimanded or Jade just going after them immediately, I have no doubt they get the Book 7 scenario.
Yuu outsmarts Azul by not allowing Leona to sleep. Though we all know that's not Leona's main reason of going along with the plan. Then again, he would not have bothered going against Azul in the first place, he saw an oppurtunity to kill two birds with one stone BUT this is not about Leona lol. Leona DEMOLISHES Azul's evil but impressive collection of blackmail material that he DID worked hard on FOR YEARS. Like I said, impressive but so evil. So the screeching is something I definitely felt in my soul. I felt bad already before the backstory. It nuts that Azul could've been way too overpowered but both his personality strengths and flaw balances him out really well.
I just love Azul's charater in general and the backstory is just my type of angst too. I like how it didn't end with just the sad story tbh but the start of his revenge plan and arguably a "hopeful but in a mean way ending" to a backstory with befriending the tweels despite it riddled with the want for revenge.
Not to mention his backstory is both relatable and cathartic. It's like either r/NuclearRevenge with how big a hole he's dug himself with his years of blackmail or lowkey r/PettyRevenge because he was young but then again, as a child there's almost zero chill so understandable.
Btw, this love extends to Book 4 but I admit I was too focused about learning more Octavinelle boys lore the first time I saw it. It made me sideline the Scarabia boys despite being the main guys of that book, especially on my first watch of the playthrough. Like I get that the purpose of bringing up Azul's friendship with the tweels being a lot more newer vs Kalim-Jamil "since childhood friendship" is to highlight Jamil's perspective on his role as a servant BUT I kinda did hyperfocus on the Octavinelle discussion more. Another example is the thrown in the middle of nowhere in a desert is supposed to be Kalim's time to shine but gdi, i get distracted with the fact that apperently Azul is a slow swimmer because of the lack of tail fins that the tweels have. I did get to appreciating Scarabia duo a lot more since then.
Back to Book 3, I ADORE the manga. Like how Azul's relationship with food is much more clearer with having a more specific MC in Yuuta. The picnic scene!!! Oh I love it so muchh. Also, I've mentioned it on a post before but just seeing the "movement" in the page rather than just being imagined during the overblot scene is just SO GOOD!!
Tbh idk how to end this, ig, tldr, I love Book 3 because Azul basically.

Man, I missed Monstadt. It truly is home so I really appreciate this quest emphasizing it, along with it just being a good story. I love it when quests have Mondstadt as the main setting.
Love this story but rather than the main plot of fighting a threat aka Roland, I just love seeing the connections Varka has with everyone. I love Varka as character already when he was first introduced but this quest makes me like him even more. Granted I'm already biased with anyone that owns an anemo vision lol.
The final battle was nice. I love the song choice with the singing of the knights as he fights with the help of everyone's letters/power/guidance etc. It's so cool. Been a while since I loved a genshin quest combat/almost dungeon run type thing tbh.
Love Traveler's role on this. Him owning the Honorary Knight title is always everything to me. Also, just "Outlander Who Caught the Wind" is so cool. Might I add too, the relationship of traveler and Varka feels kinda unique to me than with other traveler relationship. I like how it feels a lot fatherly/teacher. I think its the respect thing like how despite not knowing Varka for as long as the others have, Traveler sees him as Grandmaster regardless. Like Traveler knows gods and treats them more as friends and same with Varka, but traveler would likely let Varka lead them to battle, you know. Idk if I'm making sense lol. It could also just maybe because of the unique model.
I like Varka's connection to letters. Reminds me of most other anemo boys with poetry, writing, and stories.
The weapon skin is cool and I like how manageable it is to get. Because I loathe Stygian Onslaught. Played it the first time when it came out and never again. Unlike this one where I got it after 2 tries and upgrading my Varka in between to have at least level 7 for all talents and okay enough artifacts.
That said, let me just say Kazuha's 4 star sword most definitely should have been a skin instead. Or better yet they should just give him a signature 5 star weapon already.
Anyway, we also met Lohen which lwky reminds me of Childe's "i wanna fight something stronger" personality in an Illuga like design. Lohen is definitely interesting and I kinda wanted to see more of him in the Varka story quest but maybe he'll be more prominent in a later quest.
Moving on to the limited event, I already love the start of the quest. Walking through that beach with a waypoint I have no doubt that barely any player visits often, and some iconic scenes from the start of the game feels so nice and definitely nostalgic. It was also funny with the anomaly of the Klee statue. But meeting with Venti and Dvalin that way made me almost emotional. Not teary but it definitely hit something in my brain. Instead of running off like they did the first time, they hit us with like a "Hello, old friend". Idk makes me proud, maybe?
Among the games this event had, I quite like the beverage game. It's the one I found to be the most memorable mini game and I like the new added mechanic though I wish they let us figure out the changes instead. I said it back then, I liked it the most because it's very reminiscent of flash games and kinda feels unique. I would love to play an endless version where I memorise recipes and have a timer. Maybe Miliastra has it but I'm don't have the storage for it.
The bird game does remind of the sky fight with Dvalin and I like that they actually now have a event game for it.
A bit irrelevant but onto my long skirt campaign, doesn't this side of Emilie look elegant? If only it was long all through out. No, I'm not stopping unless, I finally get a character with a long skirt. Emilie is a beautiful character, I just wish the skirt was long all around
He came homeeee!! I get so lucky with my pulls in Genshin but with the other gacha games, not as much. Also, the first ever time I got double of the limited 5 star after years with this game. I lwky want his weapon too ngl but there's no guarantee I'm getting it 🥲
Anyway, there's also AYATO ECHOOOO! Both Kamisato siblings actually but I've mained Ayato ever since he was released (until Natlan because it just got harder to main him C0 in the newer regions. Curse you Hoyo) so I had to get it as soon as I can. I hope I can run around as him again. I miss having Kazuha and him as constants in my teams.
I adoreeee the Varka trailer! Seeing mondstadt characters interacting and just a spotlight in my favourite nation is always the best thing. I will be pulling for him because anemo btw
I lost my first acc which I'm kinda mad since my 4 star cards. I had the VBS!Rin and one of the Len birthday AND MY 4 STAR CARDSS. I have the new (and linked acc to make sure i don't lose it again) one for a while and by a while, I mean it's like a year old but I haven't touched it until recent-ish.
Back to the main reason of the post, There's the rerun of the Memoir of Wrongdoing but its my first time encountering it, so idk if anyone has said it but I kinda wished we can make the outfits of the twins for each other. Cuz Servant of Evil, you know. Can they? Tbh, I didn't check but still.
It's been a while since I've heard Traveler be called a kid lol. I suppose Illuga and the other Lightkeepers are kinda out of touch with news elsewhere since they're busy with making sure the Wild Hunt isn't a problem to Nod Krai.
Though traveler literally drank during that archon quest when gathering data with Nefer and no one raised any questions about it she literally gave Traveler the strongest one too.
I stumbled upon this quest in the new area of Nod Krai.
And I thought it was going to be like "ooh experimental game stuff". That it's going to be new puzzle with Apocalypse theme. (The log machine thing looked like a cute arcade thing and I did not consider the red text as in super dangerous). My genuine dread when it was a lwky horror section. It's not even like "true" horror. It's the ambient music, I swear.
Tbh, not good with even just the mild stuff. I like watching analysis and video explanation but I can't handle horror by myself. I had to keep a Mandragora with my traveler when I strolled to one of the sections. Just the branch jumpscares scare the crap out of me lol.
I know genshin does the dark lore and creepy stuff sometimes but other than the first archon quest with Dainsleif with the upside down statue, I don't think this game had scared me like this lol.
In short: Bro, this update. I want Columbina to come home so bad.

The introduction of Illuga is pretty fun. Brother dynamics with Flins, imo. Very simple and sweet. Illuga worrying over Flins and some bickering.
Noooo, Sandroneeee! My girl! I really wanted her to stayyyy. But there could be a chance of return though as much as I want her back I also would like no more fake deaths tbh lol. Like stop making me take back my despair
The moon journey was fun to walk through. Also, Teyvat is round hehehe.
Traveler has quite a role for this quest and I love it. Love to hear his voice. I play Aether btw. They really went nuts with Nod Krai story. I love Columbina and Traveler's dynamic. So sweet. The outfit and the elemental bursttt is like finallyyyy. As a long time player, it's been a long ahh wait.
Gosh, Columbina is so precious. I love her. Might be my favourite girl now. (For the longest time, it has been Beidou fyi. Who's still my fave girl but among the 5 stars, it's Columbina)
Also that ending, hello? Glitching? Can't wait. Archon quests are my favourite updates.

Finally! I'm seeing people react to one of the most heartbreaking moments - Lilia's death. Which by the way, the double whammy of the flat line and Silver's hair turning blonde I still can't get over. Plus, all the Diasomnia boys crying over it and Malleus, jeez, Malleus's va did so good. It's so far in the future but I'm excited to see it in the animated and see more reactors for it.
Why am I so happy about it? Because when I experienced it alone watching the Jp server with eng subs on yt, I was losing my mind over it and have no one to react with me. It was agony. But finally! Suffer with me! /jk
But let's not forget, how healing the post overblot was. Man, Sebek is so cute. I love his character. Loud yet loves books. Like can you imagine him in the library trying to quiet down sobbing after a good book. With how he cries during the aftremath, he can't be a quiet crier. Also!!! SILVER VANROUGEEE!!! Finally! My boy! Gosh, This entirre book strong armed me to put Diasomnia to be my second fave dorm. (I'm sorry I love the chaos of fish mafia too much)
TWST anime talk but there's some manga spoilers and a rant
At least I don't think I mention major spoilers.
Edit: I'm rereading the manga so I added screenshots so there are manga spoilers. So there's that for those that want to read it. I will be talking about it below. I mostly get pissed at pacing in the edit tbh
What I would do to forget everything what's going to happen in TWST so I experience everything for the first time in the anime. I already KNOW the main plot so I'm curious on the perspective of the first impression of anime only watchers
There probably should've been an extra episode, man. Like there are some context that can be added during the fight I'd think so. Like if they were to wait for authorities there's not telling if they can save Riddle on time, a different scene of his mother being overbearing other than that tart scene, and so on
Plus, they missed a lot of fun post overblot stuff because of the less episodes. Like Cater not liking sweets and chasing Chenya out of the dorm to show how deep the RSA NRC rivalry is.
Really, there should've been more proper pauses in between scenes of this entire thing and more build up with the conflict. Could've given more Yuuken character backstory, etc. Although I get why they didn't since it's going to be a new Yuu anyway but I felt like Yuuka and Yuuta had more to their character compared to Yuuken in the manga but it might just be me. But also, what happened to the Yuuken-Riddle talk, huh?
Anyway, positives, I do like seeing everything animated. Love the fight scene. Surprisingly, Crowley did more than I remember he did lol. Although it's just the shield but still, I thought he just ushered students out. Not me expecting nothing out of Crowley, lol. Cute to see Riddle's attempt at relaxing with the rules only to go to try the other side of the extreme.

They had the manga to be the basis of their plot points and they cut out too many character building scenes imo to fit Book 1 in 8 episodes?! Usually a plot driven anime gets 12 episodes AT LEAST per season. The manga is already the shorter version of the game. Wth d*sney?
Where was the convo after Grim and Yuuken finally got enrolled. These are plot points that build their goddamn friendship with Ace and Deuce. They missed out a lot and I'm sort of actually super annoyed
They could have added an extra episode just to have pauses because the pacing was especially jarring when there's we can't think about what just happened when transitioning from plot point to plot point. There's not time to process meeting Cater to Cater's UM when where already moving on to meeting teachers or from learning about UM to learning about dorms then suddenly talking about Riddle
If one of you say "just pause", you'll be missing the point. I'm no pro but I'm pretty sure there are pauses so that the flow of the story looks better for the viewer. But also, why is it on me that the anime could have better pacing
That disturbing reminder that King Henrick is Silver's actual uncle. Like I know personality isn't hereditary but how is one of the kindest guys (Kalim is really the only other one lol) in NRC related to the worst character in TWST.
When was the last time I've seen genshin do a proper long-ish skirt? Was it Ayaka and her second outfit? Like why does every other female character got to have miniskirts, shorts, or like whatever Lauma has on. I want a long skirt for the fantasy vibes. Like Noelle's or Ayaka's.
I get it. It's Legs but come on. Give some length on the skirt. I hope Sandrone's skirt stays that way and I really wish Alice won't have a ridiculously high slit. I beg.
It doesn't have to be super modest. It can be on the knee or a bit above but do something longer than halfway the character's calves. Something like Emilie's (which is gorgeous btw) but without a slit for once.
I just saw Alice's skirt and I'm disappointed but not surprised. Ffs, I would've preferred a longer skirt with a high slit (not Lauma skirt). Wth hell is this front and back length difference bs

Yay! I got Durin! I farmed him like crazy so I'm happy to see him come home. Even for his sig. weapon! I wanted a complete kit for once. So with built pity and collected primos from skipping Nefer and Lauma + getting lucky with Flins, I got him!!

I FINALLY GOT VENTI!! Left with very few pulls, I didn't get him. Though with every 160 primogems I got, I tested my luck and kept trying on his banner and finally! He came home! I was not planning on getting his weapon. But I think I soft pitied it although I was trying to pull for Durin's. Idk, I don't understand weapon banner bcuz I never really pulled much on it. The first time I did and got smth was for Chasca's and I don't even have Chasca. I was trying to get a 4 star weapon.
Anyway! So happy to get everything "new" on this update! Btw, I had a long rant about the Archon quest but sadly Tumblr didn't have an option to restore nor was I able to save the draft when I was having connection issues but whatever.
